ONCE AGAIN... THANKS VILLANOVA...!!!

Tonight's game deserves its own thread... just a perfect game... so much talent and depth... the greatest margin of victory in NCAA Final Four history... great representative for the Big East, i love that VU didn't do the breakaway dunk in the last minute.

Such a likeable team. All class, confidence, respect, teamwork, Jay Wright, Villanova and the Big East represent everything that's great about college athletics.

In between giddyness and all, i wasnt really surprised at the blowout. The 10 of us in the BE have watched Villanova all year, and we know they're a great team. Maybe the 40+ margin is a surprise, but getting a comfortable win was a decent possibilty.

And guys, what happened tonight with the Wildcats, this is going to be a regular occurence as we move forward. For VU and the other 9 of us. That's what's so cool about their run this year. The Big East is built to last and grow. Freakin buckle up your seatbelts guys...!!!

Great semi-final win Villanova.
1st things 1st.
Win the Championship, Villanova! Leave no doubts!

As for the rest...One step after the other...one day at a time. Next season (and the future, by extension) will be
here soon enough. Winning is always the best revenge.

so kind of an interesting question....

if Nova wins on Monday night, is this the best Big East team..... ever?

look at the title teams....
1984 Georgetown 34-3
1985 Villanova 25-10
1999 UConn 34-2
2004 UConn 33-6 ranked #2 KP with a .9531 rating
2011 UConn 32-9 ranked #9 KP with a .9261 rating
2013 Louisville 35-5 ranked #1 KP with a .9713 rating

Right now Villanova is 34-5 with a .9630 rating

I think 1985 Villanova, 2004 UConn and 2011 UConn you can kind of dismiss. Very good teams- but not in the top 3 right now(or 4 if Nova wins)

thoughts?

Don't have the link or the exact quotes but Jay was asked specifically about this run's importance to the Big East.

He gave a great response:

- we are basketball schools and to fans of our schools the FF is so much bigger than the FCS FB playoffs.
- the BE is so great because we are hoops schools in major metro areas; in a college athletics landscape that is so dominated by FB we set out to make a GREAT basketball conference. We're not focused on having to be the best but committed to just be great at hoops
- as a conference we had to prove ourselves not because we were/are not good but because we are so new
- he's happy for the Villanova community first and then for the BE community a very close second

Not just saying it because he coaches my alma mater but having this specific coach at a FF "reppin" our conference was ideal. Jay does well in front of cameras and microphones and he is always mindful to be loyal to his roots. Great press for our new league this week.
Go Nova!

You forgot Cuse in 2003 at 30-5.

The Mid 80s teams can't really be compared since there wasn't a 3 point line.

Hey I am a Georgetown fan......

For the record- Cuse in 2003- 30-5- ranked #5 KP with 9232 rating

so they wouldn't be in the discussion either....

There were some great teams that didn't win the tourney too.

I always come back to 1989 Seton Hall. Their run through UNLV and Duke was close to 2016 Villanova in complete dominance and satisfaction. Then they were up 10 on Michigan and lost on a cheapo foul call.

The 82 and 85 Hoyas were outstanding, but the 84 team covers that era.

In just about any other year, 85 St John's could've won it all.
