What's funny is when stever acts like if we were still on ESPN we would have all our games on the main network. So not true. We would have some on the main network, mainly with the same three teams over and over again, a bunch on ESPN2, and the rest on ESPNU and ESPN News and internet streaming.

The Fox deal is so much better than the old ESPN deal. Only a complete moron would disagree.

hey ball- nice to have you back on a different user name....

The old Big East contract with ESPN wasn't good.. The new deal that the AAC has blows that out of the door exposure wise.

The thing is you look at the ratings from the link- ESPN2 blows out FS1. So if some games are on ESPN and a lot on ESPN2, with the rest on U- that more than blows out being only on FS1.

Also you say internet streaming. What would be internet streaming? Garbage OOC games.

One thing that will be really interesting to watch. In 3 years the CBS deal runs out with Fox. I wonder if the Big East will prod Fox to sublicense with ESPN instead of CBS. Getting some games on ESPN would be so huge.

As I've been saying all year for some reason ESPN2 is way behind ESPN. There have been many nights ESPN2 has had just as good of a game and ESPN comes out way a ahead.

I travel a lot for business. One reason why ESPN gets higher ratings all the time than Fox for games is because ESPN is in EVERY hotel room in America. Every freaking one...and so is ESPN2. Just part of the long term deals.

There very seldom are any Fox Sports Net Channels nor are many hotel rooms equipped with FS1 and even fewer, if any, for FS2. The have been many nights where I have had to crank up the old IPad to get Fox Sports Go on for a game.

This may change over time if ESPN still tries to demand huge monthly $$$ for their stations, but probably not for a while.

Meantime, I still prefer the Fox arrangement rather than having the league stuffed off to the side on ESPN News, ESPNU or other schlocky channels like the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC gets sent to. $4.5-5.0 million/year from Fox vs $1.1 million/year That ESPN is paying the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC. I'll take Fox.

It would be nice if it was 4.5-5 million a year from fox for Big East vs 1.1 million from ESPN for the AAC...But it's not. It's 4.17 million per year for the Big East vs 1.8 million per year for the AAC.

Like I said, 3 years from now will be extremely interesting. The CBS sublicensing deal runs out with Fox. I hope the Big East pushes fox to get ESPN involved. Just look at the 3 games Creighton was on with the NIT.....
vs BYU 789k
vs Wagner 461k
vs Alabama 705k

how many games did Creighton get better ratings for on Fox this year?

VCU Rams deliver ‘staggering’ TV ratings

RICHMOND, Va. — The VCU Rams men’s basketball team ended its successful 2015-16 season Sunday with an exciting near-comeback against the #2-seed Oklahoma Sooners in the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

As the Rams fought back from a double-digit halftime deficit and closed the gap against Buddy Hield and Oklahoma, VCU fans across Central Virginia turned on CBS 6 to watch the furious rally.

Ratings for Sunday’s game peaked in the last 15 minutes, while the outcome was very much in question.

The 21.6 rating equates to 119,000 households watching the game’s final minutes Sunday evening. The rating for the entire game delivered a 17.4 locally. That rating made the game the highest-rated VCU basketball game on CBS 6 outside of the Rams’ Final Four and Elite 8 games versus Butler (32.8 rating) and Kansas (24.1) in 2011.

“These numbers are truly staggering,” Executive Associate Athletic Director VCU Athletics Glenn Hofmann said. “We can’t tell you how much it means to the coaches and players that so many people back in Central Virginia are cheering them on during the NCAA Tournament. These numbers are a testament to the relevance of VCU Athletics to so many people in CBS’s viewing area.”

VCU eventually lost the game to Oklahoma.

For the sake of comparison, the Rams Second Round loss to Pittsburgh in 2007 (following Eric Maynor’s epic shot to beat Duke) earned a 15.6 rating.
