I'm not blaming the refs because X should have never put themselves in this situation but this makes the pill harder to swallow

It all happended so quick with the UNI v Texas AM game going at the same time and saint Josephs making a run that I didn't catch how bad that flop was.

And what that vine video doesn't show is that summer made the pull up shot, which should have been for the win.

Horrible.

First time seeing that again. All bias aside, that wasn't even close to a charge. Sumner is probably one of the top 10 quickest guards in the country, and the guy wasn't even close to beating him to his spot. Total BS. But it never should have come to that.

The kind words are definitely appreciated. In my time as a Xavier fan, this one stings the most. 2004, Elite 8 against Duke and we were leading for the majority of the game as I recall. One of our bigs, who had been dominating, fouls out with 6-7 minutes on a horrible call. We end up losing by three. I hate to say this, but I was just happy that we made it that far as that was our first Elite 8 and we were playing big bad #1 Duke. Kinda bitchy on my part.

2007, second round against that great 1 seed Ohio State team with Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Daquen Cook. Up 8 with 4 minutes left. Oden "shot putted " Justin Cage 17 rows up in to the crowd. We were up 2 with 11 seconds left, and it was just called a common foul vs the most Technical of Technical fouls of all time. The only thing the Oden could have done more to get T'd up was to pull gun and take our player hostage. OSU lost in the finals to Florida.

This one stings the most because this team had everything needed to breakthrough. As difficult as it is to make a FF, the bracket had opened up perfectly with teams we matched up well with. F#ck it. The more I keep talking about this, the more it stings.

Nova making a run to the FF would definitely help ease the sting, forcing some of those media asshats to give this conference the credit it deserves.

Go get'm Cats.......

Sumner put his shoulder into the defender, and the defender had good position with his shoulders square to Sumner. Showalter sold it, but Sumner still initiated the contact. A year ago, maybe not a charge but with the change in interpretation of the rule this year, I have seen that very play called a charge many times this year. It was a veteran play against a freshman. He knew which way Sumner was going and he beat Sumner to the spot. Some referees might have swallowed their whistle there. Unfortunately for X, this ref wasn't one of them.

that play is going to get called as a charge 99.9% of the time. I thought that was correctly called, just like the refs made the great no call 30 seconds earlier costing Wisconsin the ball.

Firtsly, Reynolds was fouling the heck out of Happ on that play. Sumner puts his head down and moves toward the baseline and Showalter cuts him off and flops. Looks like a block to me. The defender has to be moving parallel to the offensive players motion if he's not set. Besides the fact that Showalter leans in and jumps backwards when Sumner hits him.

Prior to joining the Big East, the only folks other than X fans who regularly posted anything about X on any board were a few Dayton fans and a lot of Cincy fans. Almost all of those guys, especially the Cincy fans, contributed nothing but sarcasm, raw nastiness, and mean-spirited taunting, mostly using terrible grammar in the process. But reading through this thread, and looking back at my first year as semi-regular Holy Land poster and remembering the many thoughtful and provocative discussions we've had since last November, has made me feel so good once again about the Big East conference, our bball programs, and all the wonderful and mutually supportive fans we have. Thank you all for expressing your kind thoughts and your respect for X's best team ever team, despite such a bitter end to our season. And now .....GO NOVA!
