Seems like abnormal, obnoxious behavior to stand the entire game to me. I wasn't at the game so can't say for sure that it was obnoxious, but having attended college basketball games all of over the country I can say that it is 100% abnormal. And the fact that it screws thousands of people behind them, including elderly and kids, well if you agree with that I hope your season tickets are not in front of mine when I'm 80.

But hey, whatever floats your boat. If you want to be annoying, ignorant and abnormal, be annoying, ignorant and abnormal. Most people understand when normal people stand at a game.

Anyway, I went into the game rooting for a non P5 as I always do, but after reading that post from someone at the Dunk I watched the second half hoping WSU fans would be bounced from the dance.

Was just at the BE tourney and there were people standing the whole game behind the basket. I have Pats season tickets and have stood entire playoff games. Was at the NCAA games last time at the DD Center and had to stand for basically the entire day.

No need to be obnoxious, but security doesn't make it against the rules. There have been threads on all the PC boards over the years of the old timers yelling at fellow PC fans to sit down.

re:sporting events as a spectator, I've been to NCAA Championships, Super Bowl, a World Boxing Championship, over a dozen MLB playoffs and World Series (including 1st and 7th games), Masters, countless Bengals, Ohio St and Notre Dame football games and the people telling people to sit down are everywhere and the only place I've ever been that you better be on your best behavior is the Masters and several other PGA sites or professional tennis events. No one takes anyone telling them to sit down seriously. Potty mouths? It's unfortunate but if you take kids to games ANYWHERE you're going to here the fbomb and you will also likely see other poor behavior especially at any NFL venue and the later in the day the game starts the more bad behavior you're going to encounter. Alcohol and adrenaline are not good matches.

I'm surprised the Wichita fans didn't come across some of the local wackos....I mean more colorful fans.... that make up the rhode island SE Massachusetts area. they would not have been as polite as the group in section 210 sound like they were. unless of course they were in North Carolina watching PC!

Really? Standing at a game is annoying, ignorant and abnormal?

Well, I've been to numerous SJU games at both MSG and Carnesecca and I've never seen it there, so yes it's abnormal among your fan base. Standing the entire game is definitely abnormal.

I've been to games at PC, UConn (Hartford and Storrs), Boston College, Seton Hall, Notre Dame, SJU (MSG and Carnesecca), Rutgers, Villanova, Holy Cross, DePaul, Barclays Center, MSG, etc. etc. Guess what? Never seen any fans stand the entire game, especially with people behind them, so yeah...abnormal.

Also been to the BET annually for years, and unlike another poster in this thread - I've never seen it.

Only reason to do it is to be an asshole.

SJU has sucked for the last 15 years. If an entire section is standing it's not to be an asshole, If thats their fan base's thing then thats what they do. Some schools wont sit until their team scores a basket. Wichita fans stand up. They have the right to do that at an NCAA game. At that event YOU are the visitor, not the fans of the teams actually playing in the building.

1) Valid point on SJU sucking recently, I can't disagree. I don't think it will last as they have a great recruiting staff in place. But that is not the case with Villanova, UConn, Notre Dame, BET games, Barclays games, etc. so... Also, I'd put some cash down on the fact that SJU fans will not be standing the entire game when they no longer suck in the near future.

2) I was told that this is not Wichita State's thing at their own home games. Anyone who has attended a game can correct me if I'm wrong. Standing before a made basket (figure 1 minute in majority of games) is vastly different.

3) I wasn't even at the game so I wasn't a visitor or the home fan. I don't live in RI. PC was hosting the event so I'd say that everyone was visiting. The fact that security had to have a meeting about this is about all that needs to be said. And you're right, they can do what ever they want and I can come to the conclusion that they were acting like assholes for not respecting old people and families with kids. And you can disagree.

I am in the boat that I have zero problem with fans standing. If you want to sit down the entire game and get a perfect view while experiencing none of the game atmosphere...... You stay home and watch on TV.

I have no problem with fans who stand throughout the game. But, I can tell you from long experience, having attended games at WSU, and running into WSU fans at games in Omaha, for many years at Arch Madness, and the old days when WSU baseball was a fixture in the CWS in Omaha, WSU fandom - like pretty much all teams - has its share of really decent people and its share of complete knuckleheads. The problem is that WSU has a higher percentage of classless, clueless, blathering idiots and down-right rude, obnoxious and indecent fans than any other school I have been around. Further, where as most teams' most cranky, rude fans tend to be our cantankerous old folks or drunks, WSU idiocy covers all age levels from almost junior high to senior citizens, whether drunk or stone cold sober. I do not miss them.

I respect any opinions on this and agree to disagree, as I think it's abnormal behavior. But again, respect differing opinions.

However, if this board is still around when some of you are season ticket holders at 75, let me know how you feel about it after a knee replacement or hip replacement. Until then, happy 40 minutes of standing.
