I will say this it is becoming apparent that it is becoming critical for at large teams to stay off of the 8-9 line. If butler and Providence were 7s or 10s or 6s or 11s they would have such a better chance of getting to the next weekend. Sucks we had two teams get out there this season

Mack, it was prompted by, "Please, please Nova - Final Four????" I understand what ChelseaFriar was talking about but can you F'ing imagine the rampage the people on this board would be going on if Villanova did NOT beat Iowa. We would be getting it from every angle. "Typical Villanova" "Another choke job" "They can't get it done in March" We would have been friggin' attacked. Meanwhile we have done more in the past decade in the tournament than the majority of the teams in the Big East have done in the last 20 years. You know it, I know it, and most posters on here know it.

So that is my point. Until the league steps up as a WHOLE, no SINGLE team deserves grief or added pressure for their performance in March.

I read asome of the olds post with some fans on this board bashing nova for choking and it is ridiculous. Sju fans were clearly the worst.

All I know is that this xavier team was awesome. They Lost a heartbreaker in a single elimination game.

Most of them will be back next year. I don't know about Reynolds but even without him Xavier will be back and with a chip on their shoulder, really hurt to see sumner crying at the end. Poor kid

Yet again, the national perception of the Big East rests on Villanova's shoulders. It's definitely frustrating that the rest of the league hasn't stepped up. We know Villanova hasn't either.

But Chelsea is echoing the thoughts of all non-Nova Big East fans. If Nova had lost today, I would have the same thoughts about Xavier had they won (after I finished crying).

ChestRockwell85 wrote:ChelseaFriar, that was NOT just directed at you. Throughout the year I have made SEVERAL similar posts having to deal with people (most from schools who haven't done an F'ing thing in the tournament in well over a decade) bashing Villanova for not doing anything in the tournament since 2009. It is completely a mid-major mentality when you are expecting ONE team EVERY year in the Big East to do something in the tournament to redeem the rest of the league for not doing anything. In 3 years the Big East has only had TWO teams in the Sweet 16. It is not good, but again, and this is NOT just directed at you, I understand where you are coming from, it is directed at the SEVERAL other posters who have said similar things over the course of the year, until the league steps up as a WHOLE, stop pointing the finger at one team for not doing well in the tournament by themselves because the rest of the league isn't doing shit.

This is a group effort and we should be looking at 2 or 3 teams in the Sweet 16 every year if we want to be taken seriously.

Xavier doesn't owe anybody ANYTHING. They had a very good year and I'm sorry it ended the way it did. I look forward to another strong showing from X next year. Congrats on a successful season.

Thanks for the post. Obviously, we wanted and needed a different outcome tonight. I wanted the BE sitting at 6-3 with 2 teams in the S16.

Tonight represents the beauty and the agony of the NCAA Tournament. The thrill of victory; the agony of defeat. The guy hit a hero shot after we failed to execute with the ball with 11 seconds left to win the game, and it shouldn't have even come to that. Not because he had hit another long three just before that to tie it, but because we didn't do what we needed to do down the stretch to protect a lead.

The BE stands at 5-4 with Nova in the S16. Go have fun and advance. Rack up one of the ACC's first losses in the process.

This conference is in fine shape for the future. Xavier absolutely is in solid shape for the future.

Let the sting of this loss begin to fade. Let Nova keep winning. Either way, know that the Big East is solid where it matters the most: with the Presidents, with Fox, with MSG and with increasing populations of fans who tune into our games.

can't argue with the results. sometimes you just take your lumps and move on. and if nova loses, to chestrockwell's point, you only have your team to blame.

and don't worry about what others say. some of you may be new to the BE but BE has always taken crap from the media even when we were 16 team behemoth with 8 teams in the tourney every year. the fact that they're still hating on us kind of proves that we're still relevant.

I hope so. Miami fits the mold of a team that would give nova trouble.

Meanwhile, if St. Joseph holds on to beat Oregon, we'd be looking at 25% of the Sweet 16 being Catholic schools (Villanova, Notre Dame, St. Joseph, Gonzaga). That's pretty cool.
