NCAA Tourney Media BE Bias..

This was one of the best I saw yet! Of course, we know where it is from.
"Conference that is going to look back on March and wonder how it all went wrong: Big East" "The Mountain West got one bid. Does that count? No? OK, fine. The Big East has been unfairly derided in recent seasons, but tough first-weekend matchups for Villanova, Xavier and Seton Hall could send the league's elite home early."

Oregon, Xavier would be among vulnerable second-round Giants
Oregon, Xavier and Miami are among the schools that could face second-round matchups that expose them as vulnerable giants.

if you look at Ken Pom he's right....

top 2 seeds in each region pct chance of making sweet 16- by Ken Pom...
Virginia 77.9%
UNC 76.6%
Kansas 75.5%
Mich St 75.0%
Oregon 65.0%
Nova 63.3%
Oklahoma 61.6%
Xavier 55.7%

Seton Hall 30.2%

Like it or not- but the Big East did draw very tough 2nd round games. Iowa and Wisconsin 2 pretty good teams. By far the 2 toughest 7 seeds. And Seton Hall doesn't have it easy in either round.

So I'm guessing Ken Pom is biased too then?

The only other possible conference they could have tabbed for that would be the Pac 12...

And that's only because KP loves Wichita so much. ACC and Big Ten have 4 teams each with over a 40% chance of making the sweet 16. With ACC with 2 teams over 75%, and B10 with the 1. Big 12 has 6 teams with a 30+% chance, with also 4 with a 40% chance. So if a conference is going to roll snake eyes, the odds clearly favor the Big East or Pac 12.

It was a chit job by the committee giving our teams a harder road than any other conference. The committee is taking a lot of heat for it's poor job seeding.

well considering the 2's were Xavier, Nova, Oklahoma, and Mich St, and the 7's were Wisconsin, Iowa, Dayton, and Oregon St- Wisconsin and Iowa can't see Michigan St. Geographically they put Oregon St out west, where Oklahoma was already. That meant they had no other choice but to put Wisconsin and Iowa up against Nova and Xavier.

Seton Hall they actually did them a favor in not having them playing a FF team. But any 3 was going to be hard....

Kenpom is not all knowing. I believe Nova and Xavier are both 80 percent chances to sweet 16. So, the chance of one of them is like 95 percent.

well looking at Ken pom....

Xavier 55.7% chance to make sweet 16
Nova 63.3% chance to make sweet 16

it means that there is a 83% chance that 1 of them makes the sweet 16 at least. a 5/6 chance.
it means that there is a 35% chance that both of them makes the sweet 16. smidge over 1/3.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.

You think Seton Hall deserved a 6 seed? I guess everyone from ESPN to CBS calling it a poorly seeded bracket are wrong?

What are you, the fvckin Brain Police? Every comment today in every thread has to be filtered through you?

In the article, the writer mixed in references to Ashley Judd and the Lumberjack mascot at Stephen F Austin. I doubt he took two extra seconds to look up freakin Ken Pom. The writer was being a dick to the Big East to fill up bandwidth. So stop being such as freakin newsbag busybody, commenting so much in every freakin thread.

And get off my lawn.

I love Kenpom, but I would never use it by itself. It's a good reference point, but other factors matter too. Plus, Kenpom just has margin of error like any other model.

Concerning Iowa, their average is inflated by a nice run in the middle of the season. They've been pretty bad since.
