I know its petty, but as the halftime show begins in this game (Creighton looking GOOD, keep it up Jays) the first remark the "highlight/desk commentator" made was "whoa, well we have a mid-major handling a power conference team pretty easily at this point" (immediately wanted to jump through the TV and practice some Krav Maga on his ass). His partner, somewhat humorously, and maybe a little embarrassed at his partners faux pas, immediately jumped in and said "You better not let those guys hear you, this is the Big East"
Again, I know its petty, but its this guys JOB to know these things. One time pass for this guy, as Creighton, before they were invited to the Big East, in some circles, were considered the "little Mid-Major that could". Xavier fans can relate. But, we are in year 3, 5 teams with two #2 seeds, and Creightons first year in the Big East featured 2nd in Conf and Conf tourney finishes, as well as featuring First Team All American and Consesnsus Player of the year Dougie Mcbuckets. Lots of press exposure as it was the Big East 2.0s first year whose newest member happened to feature the NPOY.
Apologies for the rant. I'm a little protective of conference mates, especially this time of the year. OT Just made me reminisce of the great games X and Creighton played over the years. Korver and West provided some absolute classics.
Watson is a beast and Huff has really come on this year. A win and the Jays are most likely rewarded with a trip to the fabulous city of Oleon, NY to take on the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure. It's definitely a tough place to play as they squeeze as many bodies as humanly possible into what is essentially an oversized high school gym. They will be out for blood to play a FORMER mid major like them/chance to "show up" The Big East at their own place.
Kudos to Avery Johnson who has really coached up a team that was picked dead last in every preseason publication. 65-50 good guys 3:00. Finish them off Jays.
The Bonnies Gym.
