Next year is going to be brutal. We are sharing the NYC market with ACC and B10 tournaments. It sucks, but I hope we do okay!

I wouldn't worry about the B10. Their only local school is Ruttgers and they are playing their tourney a week before we are.

The ACC on the other hand. Cuse fans will be there, as will casual fans for the Duke-UNC names. It will be tough. Nova and Seton Hall have been great at bringing attention. Now we need St. Johns and Georgetown to do the same.

Its the casual fan, like myself that concerns me. ESPN is capable of stealing the spotlight of the Big East. Granted, MSG is always a plus and it's so much easier to get to that it will always draw fans like myself. I would go to MSG 20 times before I decide on Barclays in Brooklyn.

Like Willard said, they are just visitors, they will get their pizza and leave. The Big East is here to stay.

The Big 10 is in Washington DC next year and is played on it's normal dates, not a week early. In 2018 they are in NYC playing a week early.

ACC next year is at the Barclays center on it's normal dates.

The fact that the ACC is in Brooklyn won't do anything for their television ratings. Barclays is not difficult to get to, but it's not Manhattan. It;s a very different vibe around the arena. I will bet the ACC will not be making it part of a frequent rotation. Not with the southern schools.

ND, Duke, UNC and UVA have many, many alumni living in NYC working on Wall Street and for law firms who are passionate about their schools. They will pack the place. Pitt and Louisville fans always traveled well to NYC for the old BET. However, most of those who live in NY are unlikely currently attending the BET (at least the dozen+ who I know from these schools are not - and they are college basketball fans).

Big Ten should draw really well in NYC too. Plenty of alumni from Michigan, Maryland, and Penn State in NYC (Northwestern too, but not sure if their fans turn out). I'm sure Indiana, Ohio State and Wisconsin will travel well, especially since it won't be in NYC for them every year. But this tournament will be a week earlier.

As mentioned, the casual/corporate fans are where the damage might be felt if they decide to go see Duke/UNC/ND instead of BE games. However, as mentioned, it's a lot easier for the corporate crowd in Midtown to head to MSG for a game after work (and the bar atmosphere around the area is much better).
