I think it would hinge on if they are a 6 or 5 seed. The 6 line is pretty tough with some of the 3's in the 2nd round. WVU or Kentucky pretty tough....

I think they'd be fine if Utah is the 3. I'm the first one to always think Kentucky is overrated but this year they have the guards to take them places. The thing about the 5 seed is that 12 seeds seem to split the wins in the past few years.

SHU aside, honestly think this is a blessing in disguise for Nova. Not much difference between a 1 and 2 seed in terms of matchups (in fact, the 2 seed often plays the 10 seed in the second round). Nova won't be in the national spotlight as much as last year. If they make it past the second round they'd be really dangerous.

At least this year they can play without the President predicting they'll be in the title game (well, most likely anyways).

to your point about 10 seeds....
look at the 7's on bracket matrix....
Iowa, Dayton, Wisconsin, St Joe's
look at the 10's on bracket matrix...
Cincy, Pittsburgh, Wichita, St Bonnies(note, Gonzaga is only .04 behind St Bonnies)

I think I would take the 10's over 7's in games almost all 4 of them..... Maybe not Wisconsin....

And the biggest benefit to me is that Nova will likely be the #2 in the East(Philly) bracket instead of the #1 somewhere else.

let's see if that happens. I don't know if they're allowed to put a 1 seed at a home team disadvantage any longer...... think they changed that after George Mason in 2006 got to play at Verizon Center...

And ESPN saying Nova could be the top seed to lose in the second round and they haven't proven they can make it far in the tournament. Do people forget in the past 3 years Kansas only has 1 sweet 16? They couldn't even make the sweet 16 with Andrew Wiggins.

I think this year has already taken care of a lot of the problems we had the first couple years, especially with last night's sold out thriller. That said, the argument about the performance of the Big East in the big dance still has merit. It's a very small sample size but we've still underperformed and it's the job of analysts to talk about that. If a team can make it to the Elite 8 (especially Nova), it'd cap off as good a season any of us could hope for.

Im not sure if they still utilize these policies, but:

-They try to keep you away from your conference mates for at least the first two rounds, or more. Still true?

-Try to keep you away from an opponent you've played during the season for the first two rounds. Still true?

As a Xavier fan, I don't want to play a blue blood in that second round, and I DON'T want to play a rival. i.e Cincinnati. Dayton would suck donkey balls in the second round (which is a REAL possibility)as we are their past Overlords, their White Whale, their Unicorn, the quintessential "Big Brother". Similar perhaps to how Nova would feel playing St Joes in that all important second rd to advance to the Sweet 16. Temple as well for Nova?

I have a really weird feeling on this one. It's either going to really go our way, or we will be screwed seven ways from Sunday. We will find out soon enough.

Honestly, after last night, I feel bad for Nova's first two opponents. The cats are gonna be ready to play.
