I don't get the Williard votes. Lost his team last year and got them to play this year. That qualifies you for COY? Methinks you're supposed to do that all the time.

Is the vote for just conference play or for the entire season including OOC? If the latter: Mack. If the former I could see either Wright or Willard. Wright finished two games ahead of Mack, and Willard took a non-tourney team to solid 3rd only two games behind X (who admittedly had a tremendous year).

Using the "we lost our starting PG and C" doesn't resonate much with me. Sumner is so much better for X than Dee Davis and Farr more than cancels out Stainbrook. If anything we are seeing that both were liabilities defensively from what X is able to do now (length up top, quick bigs behind). Couldn't play that 1-3-1 with either DD or MS. Nova lost 3 starters. But we honestly only miss Hilliard. Brunson is better than Enis and Jenkins gives Nova so much more space than Pinkston did. So like Mack I don't buy that argument.

Also X was a S16 team last year. So elevating what is already a good team is certainly admirable but I can see how some of the other coaches would be enamored by Willard taking a team who missed the tourney to a top 6-7 seed. End o the day...great job by all 3.

I thought it was just the conference or they should wait for the end whole season to vote.

I imagine it is the entire season up to that point, with more weight given to the conference play obviously.

1. Jay Wrigt. Easy choice. Had at team Tha lost three starters, as not even picked pre-season in the top 10, yet held the number1 spot in then tionfor much of february. And he did it without any top 50 recruits in his sr, jr or soph classes. Not to mention he had to replace three starters from last year's team that was a complete embarrasment to the league.

I know some people like to view coach of the year as an over achiever award, but that's just stupid. Give it to the guy who has built the best team.

Next year Willard should win. I know seton hall will be a pre-season pick along with xavier and nova to win the league, but he will deserve a tom of credit if he can develop that program isn't a top ten team in the nation.

Mack won the US Basketball writers Coach of the Year, so if he wins coach of the year for all of basketball, one would assume he would win coach of the year for his conference!

So the Scout.com Xavier reporter (https://twitter.com/musketeerreport) has a list for of who the coaches voted for and is going to reveal it on his podcast as they drop out of the tourney.

1. Wojo - Willard
- Press conference questioning made it sound like he thought X was too talented
2. Holtmann - Willard
- He also added that the JP dunk Macura ensured he would never vote for Mack
3. Leitao - Jay Wright
4. JT - Jay Wright

The comment about JP's dunk was Rick joking. Holtmann hasn't said anything about it.

To quote the previous podcast.

I don't know if JP Macura's dunk cost him the COY award or what. But lets make it clear, this is a definite snub. This is the BE Coaches telling Mack, "We don't like you."

I am guessing that Coach Mack doesn't give a rat's rear-end that he wasn't voted COY by his fraternity of Big East Coaches. It's not his job to to be "Cumbaya" with his fellow coaches. It is his job to make his players the best he can playing together as an unselfish and non-error-prone team. He's done pretty well in 2015-2016 in that regard.

No one can say, however, that Coaches Wright and Willard didn't do as well!
