I don't think Providence cared about the dunk by LAJ. I know Holtman and the Butler fans I was sitting by at the game weren't happy about the dunk by Macura but who cares, Lewis hit a half court shot at Cintas at the end of the game when that game was over. I don't think a Macura dunk would piss Holtman off to the point of not voting for Mack.

You are probably right. I am just trying to figure out how BE coaches figured Mack did the 3rd best job this year.

The award isn't voted where you say who your top 3 coaches are Its who you thought the best coach was. I'd venture a guess that folks that voted for Wright would have had Mack 2nd. The we are assuming 2 who had Mack would have had Wright 2nd. But it's not like that

To kill this once and for all, Holt wasn't mad at Mack or Mucura, he was pissed at Etherington for allowing Macura a free unopposed dunk. Fans are another story altogether and he laid in to Etherington after the game. (AE has played a ton better after that game, so he might have just needed a fire lit under his butt to get him going.) But it wouldn't cause Holt not to vote for Mack if he though he was the best coach this year.

Mack had a hell of a year so far, but in conference, Nova once again show they are the top dogs and GQ Jay sure does know how to get his guys playing their best during the conference season. Willard had a big turn around from last year, but really can't say he did a better job than Mack unequivocally.

Easy Question to Answer:

When you lose your top 2 players and have no returning stars of note, are unranked in the pre-season, and then get to the top 5 in both major polls through a complete and totally unselfish TEAM effort, inventing and perfecting a unique zone defense (a new look for a 1-3-1) along the way, you're not only the hands-down COY in your own conference, but a strong candidate for national COY as well. Blueitt was the only XU player included in ESPN's "top 100 players" list, and he wasn't even in the top 50. Mack has been asked several times this season who he'd want to take the last shot in a close game; his consistent answer: "whoever's open." Slam dunk for Chris Mack.
