They refuse to play Butler unless they have to because they happen to get matched up in a tournament. I also wouldn't mind Duke or Michigan State on a regular basis. The Louisville home/home was fun, as was the Ohio State 2xHome/2xHome. I would love for the Gonzaga series to continue.

I suspect it might continue to be hard for Butler to schedule Notre Dame now that DePaul and Marquette are no longer in their conference. Those two could very well become yearly opponents with Notre Dame again, and then Notre Dame might want to look at some of their other old Big East foes. Filling in another Big East opponent could be a hard sell for the school.

Butler has a 7-game winning streak vs Notre Dame. They try to avoid Butler like the plague.

Butler plays either Indiana or Purdue every year at the Crossroads Classic, but you have to wonder how long Purdue will continue since Butler's winning streak vs them is getting Notre Dame-like.

Do you think Purdue or Notre Dame are really going to avoid scheduling Butler because of a losing streak? Now that you've had more sustained success and are in the Big East, you'll be an easier sell to both. While you were in the Horizon and only just coming into your own you are a dangerous sell to them. A loss now won't be looked on as badly from the outside.

That said, I think Notre Dame will continue to hard one to land, since they could end up with a Big East heavy OOC, already.

Butler has no problem scheduling. They could take or leave the NDs and Purdues.

They've recently mostly been doing one or two home and homes a year with an academic school Stanford/Vanderbilt/Northwestern/etc, a higher profile series or two Louisville/Gonzaga/etc, a few buy games, one of the higher-level Thanksgiving tournaments, a few of the in-state teams, the Crossroads Classic, and you are pretty much done. Every year they are ranked highly in NCSOS.

When did this become about whether Butler would schedule, either? Two posts ago Notre Dame is avoiding you like the plague and Purdue is about to, now Butler doesn't care about playing them?

Kansas would be a fun home-home series.

Of course. Butler is a significantly better basketball program that either Notre Dame or Purdue. ND basketball is a compete non-entity in the state. It makes absolutely no difference if they play them or not, the order of things is already defined.

You were the one who brought up scheduling ND. The point is there's no reason to care about even attempting it.
