Midweek preview Mar 1-2

Postby stever20 » Mon Feb 29, 2016 10:12 am

Tue: KP/RPI
7pm #194/187 DePaul 3-13 9-19 @ #2/2 Villanova 14-2 25-4- KP Nova 82-60 98%
9pm #76/105 Georgetown 7-9 14-15 @ #96/113 Marquette 7-9 18-11- KP Marq 73-70 62%
Wed:
830pm #31/31 Seton Hall 11-5 21-7 @ #39/55 Butler 8-8 19-9- KP But 75-73 61%
9pm #46/99 Creighton 9-7 18-11 @ #57/44 Providence 8-8 20-9- KP PC 73-70 62%

huge night Wed IMO. Butler and PC really need wins. Wins IMO punch the tickets for both Butler and PC. Losses, and will likely need a win in the BET to get the spot.

Seton Hall clinches 3rd with a win
If SH wins, a Creighton win clinches 4th

I obviously can't root against Seton Hall, but I can't say I'll be particularly disappointed if they lose as a win probably wouldn't do that much for their seed and a loss likely puts another BE team in the tourney. It also may help pull Butler out of SHU's BET path.

In other games, rooting for PC (to keep them in), Gtown (to get RPI back into the top 100 and help top 5 resumes), and Nova (for a 1 seed).

Get out of here with your level-headed and reasonable thoughts.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but even with a loss on Wednesday, Hall still would keep the #3 seed in the BET, right?
Hard to believe that PC is in the position they're in, and Creighton will be a tough one for them.

For the time being. Any 1 Hall win or Creighton loss clinches the 3 seed. If the Pirates were to lose out and the Jays win out, Creighton would take the tiebreaker as that scenario would give them a sweep of Xavier to Seton Hall's split.

It's so amazing that here we are entering March and one can say that Butler and Providence must win something to get in the tourney. I think if you had told me that late December, I would have said you were insane. PC is so amazing to me in particular.

If we want five teams in, Butler and Providence have to win.

Screw the BET with five in, PC can win a game in BET to get their wins if they need to. Pulling for CU on Wednesday to meet my preseason prediction of a top half finish.

Should be a good game Wed with Creighton against the friars. Listened to Cooleys radio show tonight and today was the first day in two weeks everyone seemed healthy at practice. No need for the puke buckets as the virus has been going thru the team.

Good for MU pulling out the win. Now, if SH can beat Butler tonight I think CU locks up the five seed at worst via its win over X - in the unfortunate event CU loses its last two games at PC and at X. Of course, No game is going to be easy for a shooting-challenged CU in the BET, so might as well position for a chance to take our swings against Nova (notice I said "a chance" - would not be looking past a probable 4/5 matchup with PC fighting to stay on the bubble if we hold onto the 5th seed).
