Enjoy making SJU your bitches this year.
Payback is a mother, and I swear to that.

I know 15 wins is nothing and not even NIT, but if SJU can't even get 15 wins next year then I'll ban myself from this board.

So see ya next year, I'm out

Dude, enough already. Reading posts like this and reading St. John's fans try to create success out of moral victories has started to get old. We all have our fingers crossed for St. John's but until it happens on the court enough of this shit talking.

"Just wait until next year" seems like it has been St. John's war cry for some time now.

Agree 100%. I've been around long enough to see plenty of "sure thing" hires, and highly rated recruits fail miserably. While I expect the Johnnies to be much improved next year, there is no guarantee that even if they can become a winner, that they will be able to rise to a point where they are competing with Villanova, and Xavier for the top of the league. So best to tone down the hype, lest this board become an uncomfortable place for you if Mullin doesn't get the job done. The fact that DePaul, another powerhouse from the 80s, and also located in a large city that produces plenty of talent, continues to struggle, ought to show you how difficult it can be to get off the deck.

I know Mullin's a big name that can bring in a lot of talent, but so was Lavin. But running a good college program takes more than that, and there's no evidence this staff can. I think a better approach for St. John's would have been to find an experienced, successful mid-major coach who had a system and going at it that way. But I guess that would have been a tough sell in New York.

Even with all the youth, there was enough talent on the roster this year to win 4 or 5 games in the league this year. So unless Mullin is bringing in Kentucky-level talent, I guess the rest of us aren't scared by "wait till next year."

maybe enough talent- but no point guard. You have no point guard, you are going to struggle in college basketball, especially I'd say with the rules the way they've changed. They are 0-15 against top 110 level teams in conference play.

Also just can't shoot. Really exposed in the free throw shooting. They've had 8 losses by my count 10 points or less in conference play.... look at the cumulative FT shooting for those 8 games:
SJ 101-172 58.7%
opp 173-232 74.6%

so the opponents have made more ft than St John's even shot. And the difference in points is 62- or about 7.75 per game. And these were the 8 10 points or less losses.

I think this thread is dumb but I think this post is dumb too. They will probably be close to 15 wins next year in fact I think they'll get there. They don't have a "longgggggg way to go"

He's clearly talking about next year when we will have a PG and shooters.

What are you talking about? If we hit FT's this year we would be close to 15. Do you watch the games at all?

UCLA, Kansas St., Arkansas, North Carolina St....

Those are some programs with about 15 wins right now. Maybe they'll finish with slightly more. SJU is completely in the toilet right now. I stand by what I said.

St. John's time will come, but I really doubt it will be next year.
