I just think Butler would be extremely precarious w/o beating Seton Hall one of the 2 tries they'll have. If they lost both- beat Marquette- they would be 2-9 vs RPI top 50 teams, and 5-10 vs RPI top 100 teams. With a RPI approaching 60 and a Ken Pom in the 50's most likely.

2-0 they're in. Both at home, statistically KenPom has Butler winning both. Think positive Stever :D

I use Warren Nolan's RPI which is up to the minute. Not at the start of the day. I just looked at the OFFICIAL NCAA site- and it had Georgetown at 101. So I think I would trust that over ESPN.....

Also gumby- your point about tough teams...
right now Cincy has played 13 top 100 teams
UConn has played 15 top 100 teams
Butler has played 13 top 100 teams

Is this some kind of joke?

So by virtue of G'town being 101 and Marq being 105 it's very convenient for you to exclude them from your little "tough game" data.

TOUGH game to me is vs. an RPI Top 10 team. Butler has 5 of those. UCONN has 1 (if Maryland is still in the Top 10) and both Cincy and Tulsa have ZERO. So please don't peddle your cherry picked #'s to make it seem like UCONN and Cincy have played more truly TOUGH games that Butler has. 5 games against teams 55-88 is not the same as 5 games vs. 2, 5 & 9. The chances of victory vs Top 10 vs. 55-88 is vastly different.

And they are 0-5 vs those. You don't just get credit for scheduling tough games. You have to actually you know win those games. Butler is 2-7 vs RPI top 50 teams. UConn has 2 top 20 wins. Butler has 1 top 20 win.

And the thing is, even if Georgetown is in top 100- Butler would have 15 games, but UConn would have 16 then.

Bottom line for Butler. Beat Seton Hall, and they will be in no matter what.

If they go 1-1 beating Seton Hall, lose to Marquette, then lose to SH in the BET- I think they're in. I just think they need that 1 more quality win to seal the deal.

I dunno. Their RPI would be right around 60, and their KP would be around 50. I don't know if a 2nd loss to Seton Hall in the BET would keep Butler in right now. Especially with the wins that Gumby says the major conference tourneys see.

The thing is- I don't want to find out. I want Butler to be safe because I think they get in there, they could do some damage as a 10 or 11 seed. I sure wouldn't want to be a 2 or 3 seed seeing them in my pod, lets say that......

It was my dumb mistake checking out the X boards after the game, but the lack of respect some people on there have for Seton Hall is pretty disappointing. Certainly not the majority- there were plenty of people who recognized that it's not easy to beat a good team on the road in the Big East- but the people calling the loss unacceptable and saying good teams don't lose that game seem pretty ignorant. I understand frustration in how they lost- they certainly should have expected to be more competitive, but I don't think the fact that they lost was particularly surprising. Even Nova barely escaped the Rock with a 1 point win, and that was prior to SHU's hot streak. If they went back in there now, I'm not so sure they'd escape again.

Seton Hall has my respect. Then again, they had it before the game started.

Look, most of what ended up on XH about the game was frustration with how we played, especially following what had happened last Wednesday. It's pretty simple to me, at least in one key respect: the Pirates did to Xavier what Xavier had just done to Nova. You guys wanted it more and it showed at the point where you broke it open and kept it there.

The one thing I will point out though, not that it mattered all that much when it was all said and done, is that the technical on Jalen Reynolds appeared to be utter bullsh--.

At any rate, congratulations on the win; you guys have really come together nicely, especially as compared to what happened to you last year. The Hall will be a dangerous draw in the Tournament.

There's not a team in the country that will want to see Seton Hall in March.
