Gottlieb is a horrible announcer. I hope he never announces a CU game - unless its one against Okla St. so he can wax poetically about how we kicked his ass his senior year.

Once the Friars got down last night Dunn did everything in his power to try to instigate something that would get his team back in the game. I don't mean that in a basketball way. Dunn ran his mouth at James Farr, pushed Jalen Reynolds whenever he could, and generally flounced around like an offended diva. If the gamesmanship of JP Macura is a scalpel, Dunn's was a crudely wielded machete.

Not a writer, just a random group of fans, probably current students, writing a blog for Xavier fans, so they're not aiming for objectivity. In their defense, Dunn was pretty chippy most of the game. I think he's just frustrated more than anything. Starting to sense that Providence really doesn't like X.

ok, i try to keep an even keel here at the Holy Land, but let me flip out this one time, regarding Macura... thanks:

"the gamesmanship of Macura is a scalpel..."

f-king kid is the biggest punk. pretty obvious what his deal is, cant believe the refs are so dumb to let him get away with his shit. constant diving and head bobbing. constant cheapshots, poking, elbowing, doing shit away from the play. slammed the ball down once on a foul call, but no tech was called (Farr's tech was probably due to an accumulation of Macura's bullsh--). a simple pick by Edwards resulted in him flopping like he was shot. the dumbass refs allow his bullsh-- to result in fouls on the other team, and thats why Cooley got a tech, after several instances, finally on that dumbass play when he was running upcourt and dove like a soccer player. i could see if he was a legit tough guy, but jesus, my wiener is bigger than the kid's arms. i mean, great, thats Macura's schtick, to act like a jackass... X fans should accept him as the team's dick, like Ainge was with the Celtics, and so don't be surprised if Dunn or anyone else gets chippy as a result. again, macura is deliberately provocative, i get it, the last second classless dunk on Butler, etc, so fine, then own it, and don't get bent out of shape of an opponent gets pissed. seriously, think about it... "we're going to send a scrawny punk onto the court to act like an ass, and if you get mad then we're going to complain about your players"...

p.s. has Farr ever committed a foul without making that stupid face with his mouth wide open? if in every game Reynolds has some altercation with an opponent, is it fair to say that he might typically be the cause? i mean, how often does Dunn argue with another player?

p.p.s. having said all that, please Xavier advance to the Final Four and beyond next month...!

I'm not a big fan of Banners. They occasionally have some good reads, but a lot of it is dumb stuff that really doesn't even make sense. Don't take it personally.

I was at the game and didn't notice any odd behavior from Dunn.

As for Macura, I think I read somewhere that Mack recently said something like "When I was a player I used to needle the other team a little bit. JP needles a lot bit."

I love that Macura plays his ass off. That, combined with his high skill level, makes him really effective.

Yeah, not a fan of banners on the Parkway, but I do love me some Macura.

I noticed that Dunn got really heated and started getting chippy when Farr gave him a little push while Dunn walked thru a Xavier huddle to the free throw line. Dunn was talking shit while shooting free throws, and after that was overly vocal. I don't mind the yapping. I did find it funny that Farr has been T'd up in back to back games while our normal loose cannon Reynolds has not.

I would prefer a team with edge versus, no emotion.

I certainly have some opinions about players around the Big East, just like I know some of you have opinions about Villanova's players, but I am not going to get into all that. This is Big East ball boys. I am happy it hasn't changed.

Re: Macura- go to 14:54 on this link, and check out the expression on the ref's face. One of my favorite moments of this season so far.
