Nova #1 overall seed

Postby stever20 » Mon Feb 15, 2016 10:45 am

Just saw on ESPN's bracketology that Nova has moved in there to the #1 overall seed projection. To me this would be HUGE for Nova. Would get to avoid Kansas/Oklahoma until the title game.

You don't know that.

And why couldn't this go in the Bracketology thread?

I don't care if nova is #1 overall. Is a nice accolade, but hey have landed the good seeds before. Cats were #2 overall last ye.

Looks almost certain that nova will face either pitt, syracuse or UConn in brooklyn on Sunday in the round of 32 game. Need to get out of that game and then take whatever comes next.

I'm not really worried about the #1 overall seed. I just want to get good matchups for the 32/16/8 rounds, because there's a wide variety of teams that could fall on those lines. I don't really want to face a UConn or Syracuse in Brooklyn where the crowd will be split. I also don't really care about avoiding Kansas/Oklahoma til the championship....if we make the Final Four, I'll play whoever, whenever, wherever.

First and foremost, congratulations to the Villanova Wildcats on this in-season achievement.

And congrats to the Big East.

you know, I don't know about Pitt. They are only 17-7 and have a bad OOC schedule(#175). They have a game tomorrow vs WF- but then @ Syracuse, Louisville, Duke. They could be 18-10 and 7-9 in the ACC with 2 games left- @ VT and @ GT. Neither one of those are gimme games. KP rating is 60. They could be much worse than a 8/9 seed IMO when you look at it.

Nova getting the #1 overall seed would be a great thing for the conference. It helps solidify the Big East as a "power conference" in the minds of the doubters or people who were sitting on the fence. It serves as just another reminder that we have great teams in this conference, and keeps the momentum going for what is still a young conference (current format) that is quickly establishing itself. Nova has been doing a great job of keeping the national spotlight on the Big East. Now, we need all our tournament bound teams to step up. I'm a Xavier fan, and while the Sweet Sixteen last year was good, X needs to set their sights a little higher this year. If we can get 2-3 teams to win 2 games this year, and hopefully at least 1 team to go on a deep run (Elite 8/Final Four) the publicity would be great. This is always a fun time of year for me, cause once the conference tournament is over, I can get back to rooting for all Big East teams in post season play. I think we have a few teams that have the potential for a good run in them. As always, with the tournament, a lot is going to come down to match ups.

I am rooting hard for Villanova to get the overall #1 seed. It would be great for them to play in Brooklyn and then Philadelphia. It always feels like Duke or NC gets an easy path to the final four by playing in Raleigh or Charlotte. Would be nice to see a Big East team have the easiest path for once!

Iowa's loss at Penn State really damages their one seed hopes, if it doesn't take them out of the conversation completely. Good news for both Nova and X.

Nova deserves a #1 seed to everyone....except if you are Doug Gottlieb. That toolbag actually argued last night that Maryland is better than Nova...and that was even after Maryland lost to Minnesota. He said it on Twitter, not just once, but when he got called on it, kept at it. But guess who deleted those tweets today? As a fan of the Big East, it rankled me.
