Yes, you have a great team and Jay only needs to fill holes but that doesn't mean you have the better class.

Arguing which class is better is dumb. Who cares about what class is #1? It's basketball. Recruiting is much more about fit and needs in basketball.

Villanova has a great class for our needs. We need big men (Spellman) and another rotational player on the wing who can also play a lot of 4 (Paschall). We got them.

St. John's has a great class for its needs. St. John's needs a lot of talent. It's bringing in a lot of talent. None of them are ranked as high as Spellman, but St. John's would rather get 3 very good recruits than one 5-star recruit.

Why are St. John's fans so obsessed with being the #1 class? Recruiting class rankings are completely irrelevant.

It's not that we HAVE to be number 1, it's that we are and you guys wont stop chitting on our class and having to one up everyone. The recruiting services say our 3 players make up a better class than your 2. Then Novaball and others need to crap all over us about how we're average and your players are better etc etc etc. You better hope those kids pan out and you better hope you stay in the top spot because if they don't and you don't you are going to be hearing a lot from me and my fellow Johnny fans.

Me, I prefer the high end quality over the mass quantity.

Not tough to figure out.

Thats funny, because our class is just 3 kids and we're higher ranked than your 2. I guess I rather have 3 very good players than just 2.

Lot of ego-driven fans that's for sure....I am just happy to see the league as a whole doing really good on the recruiting trail.

I see one person shitting on St. John's class that's a Nova fan.

Chest and I have been complimentary of St. John's class, since it's a good class. It's a great start to help turn the program around.

So with that being said the recruiting classes are going to look different. This year Jay's need was size, and again, he got that.

Let me ask you something, do you honestly think Jay Wright couldn't have brought in at least ONE guard in 2016 if he wanted to? There are A LOT....A LOT of guards who would LOVE to play in Jay Wright's system, and he didn't bring in one. The reason being again, is Jay doesn't over-recruit, he recruits the positions he needs and he doesn't create logjams.

At this point I don't care if you guys believe me or not, but Jay backed off Alkins for that very reason, yes academics were a concern, but he also didn't want to create a logjam once we got Paschall. This is the truth.

Jay got what he needed, and in 2017, he will bring in 2 big time guards. Simple as that.

Dude, you totally misunderstood the tone of my post, and I never said we had the better class. If you read all my posts I actually said I would take SJU's class if I was starting from scratch.

It was just giving an example of why Jay was bringing in the specific players he was bringing in. But why are you getting so bent out of shape? I am not sitting here pounding my chest but have you seen the recruits Jay has been bringing in? The simple fact is he needed big guys this year (2016), he brought them in, and next year (2017) he needs 2 guards, and he will bring them in. I am very informed about the recruiting process at Villanova. Again, not pounding my chest, and saying we are going to bring in McDonald's All-Americans, but Jay will be bringing in 2 Top 100 guards for 2017, because those types of players will fit the NEED.

PS - Thank you Mack. SJU fans, I understand one Nova fan has gotten under your skin, fair enough, but don't think we all share his sentiments. I was sucked into the pissing match once without really realizing the situation going on and I fired off some angry posts. I don't plan on doing that again. REALIZE I, and MOST Villanova fans, are rooting for St. John's and the Big East. If SJU brings in a big time recruiting class that is fine by us!

Did you see how I reacted to the Creighton commitment mentioned on page 1 of this thread? That reaction was real and I would have felt the same way if the kid was going to St. John's.

Anybody who has a clue about this league knows that we need all teams doing well to succeed! We aren't getting the respect we deserve yet and we need good recruits to keep on coming to the Big East to finally shut everybody up.

Chest and Mack. You guys are right and SJU fans want nova to keep succeeding too.

But when one St. John's fan makes a comment about something that pisses you guys off, you guys will react. Even though you know most St. John's fans aren't mean or have hate for nova, you still get mad at the comment.

I know NovaBall is a troll, but when I see my favorite team in the world getting crapped on here I'm not gonna sit on the sidelines and watch it happen

St. John's has a good class for them. But it is pretty much a bunch of average recruits. No real stars. No guys that I think villanova would even use a scholarship on.

If you have a completely depleted roster and need warm bodies, then the johnnies class is better. If you already have a solid program and are looking for very good players, then villanova has the better class. It's not hard to figure out.

Bwahahaha so top 50recruits are just avg recruits huh? Is this guy a joke or something?

I guess we'll see on the court next year when SJU and Nova plays which recruits outshine who. I'm not in the oh our recruits are better bs.
Rather just wait and see.

This is not a "I can't wait to see either because we are gonna kick your butt" post. I honestly can't wait to see just because I go to a bunch of St. John's games every year and I am excited to see what Mullin is building at St. John's. I would be elated if Alkins ends up a Johnnie. If Maker becomes a Johnnie as well, I mean that is honestly like a Kentucky type recruiting class. You guys would be DANGEROUS.

I want all Big East schools to do well so we wreak havoc in our OOC games and shut all the haters up. And I don't want schools like Duke to feel comfortable playing St. John's so they have a game at MSG where their New York alumni can come and see a W. I want them to be hesitant to schedule St. John's because they know they are probably looking at a very tough game and likely a loss.
