So with that being said the recruiting classes are going to look different. This year Jay's need was size, and again, he got that.

Let me ask you something, do you honestly think Jay Wright couldn't have brought in at least ONE guard in 2016 if he wanted to? There are A LOT....A LOT of guards who would LOVE to play in Jay Wright's system, and he didn't bring in one. The reason being again, is Jay doesn't over-recruit, he recruits the positions he needs and he doesn't create logjams.

At this point I don't care if you guys believe me or not, but Jay backed off Alkins for that very reason, yes academics were a concern, but he also didn't want to create a logjam once we got Paschall. This is the truth.

Jay got what he needed, and in 2017, he will bring in 2 big time guards. Simple as that.

I assure you, I'm not missing the point. In fact, if you read my first post in this thread i stated exactly what you said. The teams have different needs this year. My original post was directed at NovaBall who said Nova has the most quality incoming class, which isn't true. Does Nova have the best incoming transfer? Probably. Do they have the best incoming high school student? Likely, but he may also take time to grow. So you can make the argument Nova has the best 2 players but not the best class.

On 247 SJU is bringing in only 3 players (since LoVett doesn't count) and is still ranked 17. It's not like they're bringing in 6 guys.

I think nova fans are doing what St. John's fans are pros at doing, overhyping their recruits.

Omari Spellman is going to be a great player. But I compare him to Cam Ridley from Texas. That guy was a five star, but in his freshman year he struggled to stay on the floor because of fatigue. But he worked hard and has become a great four year player, (he is injured right now I hope he can come back by the way)

And Paschall, I know about Paschall. He played in the city last year, every New York hoops fan knows about Paschall. He's good, but I don't expect him to be some type of Mo Watson when it comes to transfers having an impact.

St John's has the best class. I know Villanova filled their needs, but St John's got quality and quantity like someone else said, and their class is the best in the big east. Obviously this doesn't mean St. John's will have a better team, they won't. Not even close, but their class is the best. That's all

PS - rankings aside, Shamorie Ponds is the best freshmen in the big east next year (see I told you St. John's fans can overhype recruits) :D

And by the way I'd say Creighton has the best incoming transfer --

Being a Xavier fan I'm excited to see him coming to the Big East but I don't look forward to his games against Xavier.

That class was ranked THIRD IN THE COUNTRY (Pointer, Harrison, Sampson, Harkless, Lindsey) and he still failed to win a single tournament game. It takes more than one solid recruiting class to build a program.

St. John's fans have every right to be excited, I know I would be, but if that 2010 class taught you anything, a lot of things can happen. I really feel Mullin needs to bring in another strong class in 2017 and probably 2018 to start to solidify long term success for St. John's. I would love to see it happen. A strong St. John's is good for the Big East.

No crap, the issue was Lavin never recruited anyone else after that. Thats why they never won a NCAA tourny game, we never had a full team! Those 6 kids were dead come the end of the season.

Why do Nova fans have to argue that they are better than everyone in everything? Jesus, we have the number 1 recruiting class in the conference and you are arguing that yours is in fact better. Jesus tap dancing christ, you're all so GD insecure over every little perceived slight or possibility that you aren't #1 in something. Yes, you have a great team and Jay only needs to fill holes but that doesn't mean you have the better class.

Look, villanova has th highest quality class. The Cats have arguably the two best guys coming in with spellman and Paschalll.

St. John's has a good class for them. But it is pretty much a bunch of average recruits. No real stars. No guys that I think villanova would even use a scholarship on.

If you have a completely depleted roster and need warm bodies, then the johnnies class is better. If you already have a solid program and are looking for very good players, then villanova has the better class. It's not hard to figure out.

i guess it boils down to whether you would take five average players or two very good players and an average player?

Me, I prefer the high end quality over the mass quantity.

Not tough to figure out.

Foster is a stud. Biggest question mark imo will be if he can play within Mac's system which predicates on sharing the ball.

Why do you question if he can do this? If you ever watched him at K-State he was not a ball hog at all, in my opinion.
