Instead of seeing someone like an Akron, South Dakota St- someone of that ilk, they're looking at someone more like a Cincy, Gonzaga type of team. Also if they're a 6, they could be once again at the mercy of playing a first 4 winner. Those teams do extremely well for themselves the next round(think a first 4 winner has gone on to win at least 1 game in all 5 years- and are 5-5 overall in the 5 years in the round of 64).
comment from Ed Cooley last year regarding the 1st 4 winner:
The one factor that bothers me....and I don't know how the committee could ever change it or fix it — but the layoff and preparation factor is a different animal if you're playing the winner of a play-in game. We had a great season and earned a 6 seed in the tournament. However, after finding out our fate on Selection Sunday, we don't get to prepare with our kids for the Friday night opponent until Thursday afternoon.
Yeah, last year PC got completely shafted with the game also being in Ohio. However, they were beyond terrible (similar to last night).
Regarding this year, other than the first round I'm not so sure how much seeding helps PC. I think it all depends on which PC team shows up if they want to make it to the second weekend. As we've seen, it doesn't matter who they play if the good PC doesn't show up. I'd like for them to avoid the 8/9 game - playing a 1 seed in round 2 if they win wouldn't be fun. Other than that I don't really care at this point. I'd rather PC get a 10 or 11 seed than an 8/9.

I don't think PC will get either. Unless they collapse, 6 seed is the worse they get and more like a 4/5 seed. Beating Nova even at WF is BIG, much bigger than losing a road game to DePaul. I do get your general pov because we all want the best matchups for our teams to get as far as we can get through the tourney.
