The only thing I understand is that no one shows up for AAC games - even when you have a top-15 (albeit cheating) team in SMU coming to town.

Forget about KenPom, RPI, SOS, W/L - if programs don't get fans/students to show up for games, they got BIGGER problems than trying to get national respect/recognition. It's not a Houston problem (or a Tulane/ECU/USF/UCF/etc. problem) but an AAC problem, and a pretty substantial one at that. It's the reason why Cincinnati/UConn want no future as part of the conference, but rather just a stop-gap solution.

With what Houston is projected to do rest of the season- a really good shot now that Houston will finish in the top 100 RPI. So all the wins that teams are getting against them from teams like UConn, Cincy- those are now going to be top 100 wins.... Losses to them won't be bad losses.

Houston has no shot at tourney though because they too scheduled like crap OOC. Guess I understand a bit more with Houston than I do some other programs- but still- that logic just is dumb to me. Although it wouldn't shock me if they were able to win 3 in March and steal a bid.

Come on man.... Houston may now be a top 100 team and you're saying with a straight face this is important? What???

SMU's undefeated season was literally the only publicity the AAC has gotten all year.

It could help UConn, Cincy, and Tulsa get in the tourney. And yes I did say Tulsa. Palm had them as the 4th team out today. What would a win over SMU do for them? wonders.

If anything, SMU has gone totally under the radar quite frankly.

SMU would be a middle of the pack big east team.

Houston should have stormed the court after the win. Too bad they didn't have any fans at the game to do the storming.

maybe with SMU- but they are definitely helping the AAC out. They lose to UConn and Cincy- and that solidifies their spots in the tourney. Lose to Tulsa, and that may get Tulsa in the tourney. And it probably will make Houston and Temple finish in the top 100, helping their teams not be bad losses. And SMU still has a big OOC game left with Gonzaga which could hurt Gonzaga's tourney chances while helping the RPI for the AAC.

Looked and they were about 80% full at the game.

Wrong, again Stever.

Houston sold 6,195 tickets. The #12 team in the nation was coming into Houston (who is having a decent year) and they sold 6,195 tickets. That's 73% of capacity. Again, tickets SOLD. Houston would have been lucky to fill HALF the arena.

Sad, sad state of affairs in AAAC land.

And how many were at the DePaul - Providence game last night. Maybe a couple of thousand. I'm talking about butts in seats, not tickets sold (which was listed at 5100). On TV the place was vacant. And try to find an article in the Trib or Sun-Times on the game. Neither sent a beat reporter. The Trib had maybe 3 paragraphs and the Sun-Times half a dozen. Headlines in Chicago are on Notre Dame recruiting not on DePaul beating a ranked team.

We ain't lilly clean either.

****this is a very minor point in the scheme of things, however do you ever have someone use a term/phrase that gets under your skin.

The University of Cincinnati is not "cincy" it is "UC", not one grad, Cincinnati Ohio resident every uses the term "cincy" when referring to UC.

it would be like calling IU "indy" , or OU "ohioy" come on get with the program..

I approved the murphy post because it was informatvie. Never realized the Bearcans shouldn't be referred to as "Cincy".
