St John's isn't even pretending that mullin is coaching these games. Just did an inside the huddle with coach slice.

I don't mind if a team has an associate coach who handles the X's and o's, but why slice? He is a "recruiter", the tyoe of guy who goes into then ol recruits homes and seals the deal. He's not an in game coach. He was terrible in his only coaching stint at Manhattan.

How about you worry about your own team.

My team just won by 15 pts without their center and is about to move up to number three or four in the polls.

Why Slice? Because all of Mullins' assistants are "recruiters."
"When you lose a program like Creighton, there's no sugarcoating it," Valley Commissioner Doug Elgin said. "It's a devastating loss. They're going to go on and have success in the league they've joined." Yahoo Sports, October 10, 2013.

Against a 0-8 team? Wow congrats. Don't think ya covered the spread though.

Lol really dude? We were down 1 at half against the #6 team in the country with nothing but bench players except Yakwe. Other than Yakwe, not 1 of our players out there would even start for a Big East team and maybe not even some mid majors. Our bench players are forced to play out of position and start instead of playing their actual roles and come off the bench. So congrats, you beat arguably the worst major conference team in the nation by 15. Happy for ya. I didn't even notice until yesterday at MSG but some Nova fans were begging for Nova to rain 3's up 15 with 1 minute left. There's a way to win with class and act like you've been there before. I'm surprised because Nova is by far the most accomplished team in the conference in the past decade, but flipping the bat and gloating around the bases is a bit bush league. SJ is well overdue to beat Nova and it will happen next year or the year after. Then we will be back to fielding teams that can actually beat any conference team routinely. For the most part though, the Nova fans were cool at the Garden. I think it's funny though how pretentious some of them are...wearing boat shoes, dockers, button down shirts, and perfectly gelled hair to a college basketball game. Nova and their fan base is more finesse I've noticed. SJ and our fanbase is more grit and toughness...that should be our niche.

By the way, Mullin is still learning how to even coach and Slice was a great addition. There are rumors in Johnny land that we may surprise and end up with either Alkins or Maker (I still think it's a longshot) or even both if they want to play together that badly which has some buzz. There is also a rumor that a major transfer might be in the works for next year. Matt A said he projects our recruiting class being #1 in the Big East and top 10 nationally when all said and done. Of course it can just be confidence, but you really get the sense Matt & Slice will work some magic here.

Mullin hosted Alkins and brought him in the locker room at the Garden to meet Curry & Thompson. It seems he is not the longshot he used to be. Actually might be considering us as a serious landing spot now. Either way, lots of buzz and a great crowd of about 13k the other day. If I had to bet money, either 50/50 SJ/Nova fans or maybe 40/60 at worst. I think that's amazing with a #6 team that is always good with lots of local alumni vs. a team that hasn't won a tourney game in nearly 2 decades and looks destined to go winless in conference. SJ fans show up for Mullin win or lose.

Slice looks and sounds like a cheeseball.

Loving his game in the NBA, its hard to see Mullin in his recruiting pictures with flip flops and looking like an out of place old jock on the sideline hamming it up with the refs all game, and barely coaching.

I'd say this experiment will not end well for St. Johns. I think a good St. Johns would be much better for the conference, so I hope they figure something out.

What do you think you folks from Indiana look like to us?

His recruiting is actually going well if you paid any attention to it and his kids are playing hard and actually running offense and defense plays. Our issue is kids being unable to hit a lay up. Go watch game film from lat year to this year. You'll see a world of difference.

What am I doing, this was just a troll post, why am I expecting an actual conversation?

Let's keep in mind the coaching staff at St. John's had to work 24/7 over the offseason just to even field a full roster for this year. Did an impressive job getting some talented players. Obviously the problem is youth, inexperience (both on floor and on sideline), and it doesn't help that they're playing in an incredibly tough league. Help is on the way with Ponds and Ahmed and hopefully Freudenberg and Alkins.
