Apologies From This Wildcat

Postby ChestRockwell85 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 1:50 pm

Since the "Villanova" thread was locked, I just want to apologize for going a bit overboard. I didn't come out swinging for no reason, but there was no reason for me to try and go for the throat either. My apologies to St. John's fans. I am rooting for Mullin and your program to turn it around. I have said it before, and I will say it again, if everybody who can be playing at St. John's next year is, (LoVett, Ponds, Sima, Yakwe, etc.) SJU is already going to be MUCH improved. I have no doubt Mullin will continue to bring in good recruits to keep building on what he already has.

Truth is, if SJU doesn't win another game for the rest of the year, Mullin still gets a pass from me. He was left with nothing and is doing the best he can with what he has. I watch SJU play a lot, and you guys play hard. Nobody has thrown in the towel. That alone is something that should be appreciated. It shows your players care and are buying into the program and want to win. That is something that you can build on.

Moving on, as a Villanova fan, and part of the reason you see Villanova fans on here ready to drop the gloves is because hearing from any Big East fan that we are a disappointment in the tournament is bush league and I'll tell you why. Back in the day, when Villanova didn't do well in the tournament, 3 other teams did. I mean honestly. The year we made the Final 4 we were a 3 seed and the Big East had 3 #1 seeds that year. Even in 2013, the last year of the old Big East, we had 8 teams in the dance and Syracuse and Louisville, who won the championship, were in the Final 4. So hearing Villanova is a disappointment to me is a mid-major mentality. That people believe the conference only has ONE horse in the race every year, and if they don't come up big for the league, the whole league has failed. I think that is a bunch of malarkey.

Villanova fans are not pleased with the past few years either, believe me on that, but not making it to the 2nd weekend should not erase the entire season, and Villanova continuously being ranked in the Top 10 HAS helped the league.

In conclusion, if you want this be a big boy league, we need to act like it. We can't rely on 1 or 2 teams to do it for us every year in March. It needs to be more around 4 or 5. So as a wise man once said, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. There is no blame here until a team in the new Big East has stepped up and proven otherwise. That hasn't happened yet, but believe me, I am rooting for ALL OF YOU! Like I have said in the past, in the old Big East, it didn't matter what team was doing bad, because another team would step up and take their place. We aren't there anymore, but getting there is a group effort. Placing the blame on ONE team for not doing it on their own is just not something I can take seriously, and that is why me and my Villanova brethren are sick of hearing it, because it is mid-major, crybaby nonsense, and we are better than that.

"OH VILLANOVA GOT KNOCKED OUT EARLY AGAIN? BIG DEAL! XAVIER, ST. JOHN'S, BUTLER AND PROVIDENCE ARE IN THE SWEET 16!" It just hasn't happened yet but this is what we are aiming for. Remember that. Not 1 or 2 horses. More like 4 or 5. And when I say this, I don't mean 4 or 5 just making the tournament, I mean actually making some noise.

I love you guys! GO BIG EAST!

Look, you mean well, and I have no intention of prolonging any disagreement with you, but the reaction was simply over the top. All that was said was that Villanova's tournament was a disappointment. No one was taunting you, or saying the team sucked, it was simply stating the obvious. Many times this season, people have commented on what a bad team St. John's has. Do you see any wild reaction from us? No, it's the truth, I've acknowledged as much myself. But the whole persecution complex you guys always display gets old after awhile. Personally, I think Xavier is the most well rounded team in the league and the one most likely to make a deep run this year. If they get a 1 seed, and don't get to the second weekend this year, and someone comments it was a disappointing tournament for them, do you think they'll react the same way? It doesn't mean they didn't have a great regular season, or have a great team., It simply means it was a disappointing tournament when expectations were so high.

You guys also like to always go on how the whole league expects you to be doing it yourself and be the standard bearer for the BE. Wrong again. Everyone has their own expectations of where their own team should be. It doesn't matter who gets a one seed. Fans of the league will likely be pulling for that team and be disappointed if they come up short, be it Nova, X, Gtown or whoever. It's nothing personal.

And finally, it doesn't help that one of the most despicable, unlikeable, cretinous members of the human race resides in your fan base. Maybe if some of you occassionally disassociated yourselves from the comments of this vermin, it would be easier to move forward. For me at least, I will be rooting for every opponent Nova faces the rest of the BE season. Come tournament time, I'll have to wait and see, but no promises.

Actually, what was said was that Villanova was an embarrassment to the league, and that Villanova should probably hope to lose more games this year in the regular season so they don't get a high seed because being a top 5 team that fails to win it all is an embarrassment.

I hope you continue to root against Nova. 12 Nova games left, along with 12 St. John's games left (2 against each other), means your rooting interest will be 0-22 in the games you watch. A nice way to spend 50 hours of your life, watching the Johnnies lose and watching Nova win as you passionately root against the Cats.

Meanwhile I will be rooting for St. John's fans to actually show up to games so they don't continue to be Madison Square Garden's weakest drawing tenant. At some point MSG is going to cut the chord on that contract with the Johnnies if they can't out 7k fans in the seats. They are losing more money just turning the lights on then they are earning from the concessions and ticket fees that they are hoping to make.

Your loss, not mine.

You're a douche because you and a few other of your Nova friends are insecure and lash out CONSTANTLY at anyone who dares say anything about Villanova and their lack of post season success the last few years. Go ahead and bash St. John's and be an insufferable tw*t, that wont change anything. Your insecurity is palpable. Soon enough you will be booted from these boards as you make your way through each fan base pissing them all off. First was dePaul now it's St. John's. Soon the mods will wise up and ban you for your lack of manners and short fuse.

Nova has had plenty of post season success. I was there when Scottie made the magical run across the floor of the Boston Garden. I was there when Randy lit up Dudley and Smith in Minneapolis. I was also there when we lost to UNC at the Dome, when we lost to Florida in the other Dome, and when we needed a miracle to beat lowly Robert Morris.

Nothing to be insecure about over here. We have seen our team win plenty. Which is why it is hilarious when fans of the worst major conference team in the northeast (okay, second worst behind Rutgers), tells us we should be ashamed and embarrassed by our program.

But go ahead, give it to us good. Nova deserves it. We can take it. Nova sucks!! Nova sucks!! Nova sucks!!

Truth is....Villanova is a great regular season team. But when they get to the dance...they freeze up like a cherry otter pop. Its sad because I root for BE teams, but they get Beatdown in the tourney. Maybe its coaching...maybe they played scared, Im not sure. Hopefully they get to the final 32
