And nobody is saying Creighton fans should root against their team, but they don't need to criticize anyone who does because of tourney implications. Their team didn't get it done out of conference, so don't be surprised if the teams that built stronger resumes out of conference receive more general support from fans of the league. Not hard to figure out.

That said, at least we can visualize a roadmap for Creighton to dance. I'm willing to see how it plays out. But that doesn't change the fact that the path to a 5th bid (or 6th depending in marquette) just became a lot more difficult after yesterday's upset.

If you look at some P5 message boards you will never hear them talk about how many bids they can get.

How do you figure?
was the big east not a power conference prior to the split? Because that was a common discussion topic back then too. When the league got eleven bids, people would frequently be breaking down he's case scenarios as to how that could happen. When the c-usa expansion happened and we started to realistically see a chance at sending more than half the teams to the dance, that was a huge talking point.

I remember a bunch of big east fans on selection Sunday in 2006 pulling for the hall to get the invite. People being upset about syracuse'so snub in 2007. Etc...

The key to Creighton making the tournament is to start beating ranked teams at home, beginning with PC on Tuesday. If we do, then we have a shot. If we don't, we have no shot. The non-conference results were not good for RPI purposes, but the team is playing better now. I don't know if that translates into wins v the tough teams coming up, but it's way to early to write us off. It is also way to early to put us in any tournament. I understand the concept regarding rooting for the BE to have as many teams as possible in the tournament. At this point, 4 teams seem to be locks. (Butler needs to start winning and I think they will) The other tournament teams will obviously come from the next 4 and I think it could be any one or more of the 4 (Including Creighton). 6 teams might be the ceiling.

one thing about Creighton.. Of all the ranked teams(that they need to get at least 1 win IMO to get in the tourney)- they have seen Nova already. PC tomorrow. Butler on the 23rd. then X on Feb 9. That's the 4 home games against those ranked teams. After the X game- they have 3 ranked games left- but all 3 on the road.

Bumping an old thread:

As of this morning, 5 of Creighton's 6 losses are the top 50 RPI teams. We were competitive with Nova (home), Oklahoma (Away), should have beat ASU, and Providence (Home) came down to the wire. Only hiccup is Loyola.

Is Creighton closer to the top half as CBS is touting? Any closer to a bid than you thought last week?

Creighton needs to get this close game bug figured out. They have played in three close games and have lost all three. Each win has been by double digits. I am guessing this would look like an NCAA resume if they won the Providence, ASU, & Loyola (barf) games.

It would be nice to not be ranked in the 300's in Kenpom's luck ranking.

right now I don't think so. Right now they're 1-5 vs top 50. and 0-0 vs 51-100. To me right now- they are 13-6. They have games left with DePaul and St John's- obviously must win there. That gets them to 15 wins. Probably need at least 5 more wins from the rest of the schedule. Butler, @ Georgetown, Seton Hall, @ Nova, Xavier, @ Marquette, @ Butler, Marquette, @ Providence, @ Xavier. Even there, 20-11 only gets them to 63.5 projected RPI- but I think given how strong they are in Ken Pom probably takes the day.

I don't think Creighton is closer because they had a GOLDEN chance to get a win that could have gotten one of those 5 wins necessary and they blew it.

Reality is we need some resume wins. Only one right now is Seton Hall. We have 7 games left against resume teams (Xavier, Villanova, Butler, PC, Seton Hall). We probably need to win 4 of them to have a shot.

The bigger problem is there are 12 games left on the schedule. Lets say they win half of those games to get to 19-12. And they go 1-1 in the Big East tournament. Now they are 20-13.
1. Do they get in?
2. What 6 games do they win on their schedule?
