Marquette at Providence (7PM ET, FS1)

For whatever reason, something weird frequently seems to happen in this game.

2009: Jeff Xavier's brother hops over the PC bench to argue a foul call.

2013: Bat Delay

2014: Davante Gardner hits game-winning 3/4 court-shot, only to have it waved off

Georgetown at Creighton (9PM ET, FS1)

Butler at DePaul (8PM ET, FSN)
Al McGuire: "What is this?"
Waiter: "Mr. McGuire, that is a cull lobster. Sometimes when the lobsters are in the tank, they fight. This one lost a claw."
Al McGuire: "Well then take this one away and bring me the winner."

I had never seen the first one. That could have ended very badly.

HUGE game for Georgetown. Right now in Ken Pom, projected to finish 16-15. Would really need 2 more wins to get in the tourney. Of the games projected to lose, the game tonight with Creighton is the 2nd best chance to win(only one better is the @ Marquette game). The next one after tonight's game is the home game with X- that you really wouldn't want to be counting on....

Ha, yes the PC/MU series has had some bizarre twists.

I was at the game when Jeff Xavier's brother came out on the floor. I believe it was a 9:00 PM tip and the crowd was quite hydrated. I was sitting directly across from where he came out and I had no idea what was going on.

Just googled and found this:

I keep trying to tell myself that we are in decent shape. Believe it or not, we lost the same two games last year and finished 12-6.

Still, we can't afford to start 0-3. Needless to say, this is a "must win" for Butler.

yeah, especially with Nova coming up on Saturday.

Butler has a easy path to the 8 conference win mark that I think gets them in. 2 each with DePaul/St John's, and then splitting with Marquette, Seton Hall, Georgetown, and Creighton. I really wouldn't want to press luck at 7-11 conference record.

Hah I remember watching that game where that guy walked on the court from my freshman year dorm room. Those stakes were sooo high for those games. Win on the road in OT against Providence, Seton Hall and Cincinatti in a row it was insane.

Also if that shot had counted in 2014 or Derrick Wilsons game winner that was waived off in OT, I'm still convinced we may have been able to right the ship that year and continued the streak.
