Why do we need to "break through" this yr? Just need to keep putting teams in the dance and we will eventually make deep runs.

That's silly talk.

We already have broken through new grouch this yr. first yr we established that we can have high end teams and put teams in the tourney. Last yr we broke through with 80% of the league being ranked and putting 60% of the team in the dance, including the #2 overall seed. This year 40% of the conference has been in the top ten.

In the original big east we didn't have a final four team until yr 4, our second didn't come until yr 6, and Cuse didn't make one until yr 9 and uconn until yr 21. From 1989 until 1996 we didn't have any final four teams. You aren't expected to have a final four team every year every other year.

It's not necessarily the final 4. It's at least getting teams into the elite 8. And not having your top team choke in rd 2.

'80- year 1 Big East got an elite 8 team.
Also- Georgetown was in title game in '82- year 3 of the Big East. And BC and Nova made the elite 8.
year 4 '83- Nova made the elite 8.
Year 5 '84- Georgetown won it all.

The last thing the conference needs is for another dismal tourney performance. Eventually the league has to cash in.

I think the pressure from the Power-5 is what makes it more urgent. Times have obviously changed. No doubt this is a heck of a great league and it will continue to be a great one and it's exactly why I have followed so closely the past few years. But this year has been a great year so far with a lot of representation in the Top-25. I think this is the perfect year to break through. I have no doubt we will we will have great teams in the future but think about what a statement it would be in the CBB world to send a team in the F4 this year after all the negative talk against the Big East. I think the longer it takes the more we will get attacked from the P-5 and ESPN crowd

Nova made the final four in 2009 after being pounded twice in January and February. They didn't look like a final four team as they were losing by a couple dozen in those games.

And providence has looked awesome, Xavier showed they have a lot of balls today, and nova looks good so far on the road. What about the games today is worthy of criticism?

You are right. I think the parity and the competitiveness of the league is what makes it misleading for me. I think I need to follow the suggestion made by the above poster and look around the rest of college basketball so I can make a more accurate assessment.

I'm a big Connecticut fan so I know all about those surprise runs... I actually bet against them in 2014 when I chose Nova to make the F4. FAIL

Wait. I thought we were only supposed to win when we are hitting 3's.

Chef with a dominant performance tonight.

What attacks are we getting from the football 5?
We have an eight yr scheduling agreement with the big ten, and each of their teams is committed to four games.
We have had tons of games against the football conferences this yr, and plenty have been on our home turf.
ESPN is loving us right now.
Our media deal is in yr 3 out of a dozen, so no urgency on that part.
We have the garden for another 7 years

Patience.

Regarding picking nova in 2014. Over uconn, if not for a fluke play against sju then uconn would have gone out in Ed 1. Single elimination tourney. Can't get too worked up over the results.

We did our best job attacking the paint in the first half of the entire year. Showed some real versatility. That's what needs to happen for nova to be able to make a tourney run

Creighton is a tough team and should win some games in the Big East this year. Props to Creighton for having a great home court and great fans. For the most part the fans were really loud and made it a very exciting atmosphere.

Ochefu and Hart played very, very well tonight. We will miss DO next year, but thankfully Omari Spellman should be able to step right in for him. Nice to see Brunson hit some big shots in the 2nd half as well.

Again, hats off to Creighton and your fans.

I loved watching Jalen Brunson ignite change all over the jays in the second half.
