OT: Bo Ryan Retires Effective Immediatly

A great coach Bo Ryan retired today from the University of Wisconsin Basketball program. Class act from what I could tell he ran a strong program. How does this benefit our mid western friends recruiting? Clearly if the new coach struggles a lot of the good players they would have gotten under Bo will go else where. Hopefully it helps Marquette and Wojos recruiting.

short term it hurts for this year- because for Marquette and Georgetown- Wisconsin is best win. If Wisconsin goes into the tank this year- really hurts.

He said end of semester, not sure if they have any games between now and then.

We didn't like him for various reasons, not the least of which being the time he tried to steal Christmas*, but there's no denying that he was a good coach.

Maybe, he is familiar with the team and I have trouble believing bo was coaching his heart out with one foot out the door.

class act? Dude gets a five star all american and makes him red shirt and barely develops him likely ruining his NBA chances. Cut Uthoff in a crazy way (though I think it's BS that Uthoff went to a school within the conference). Barely graduated any of his players. Terrible sport after losing, blamed refs after the Duke game last year, blamed refs after the Kentucky game two years ago, and multiple other times. Also a ton of rumors floating around about infidelity right now. Class act is not a way to describe Bo Ryan.

Yeah, I agree. Terrible graduation rate and won't let kids transfer. Seems like he is a good X's and O's coach, but not a great guy.

yep. And what is so dumb about it- Barry Alvarez is about the last guy you would do this to. Unless they go to the final 4 again, Alvarez will get someone else just to spite Ryan.
