It's a nice win and great for a down SJU team, but Cuse is not good this year....

The are currently the 9th rated ACC team at rpiforecast with a projected RPI of 84.

So, in other words, Syracuse is predicted to finish near the middle of what has been claimed to be the best basketball conference in the country? They just lost to a SJU team that is in one of the biggest rebuilding years in college basketball.

Cuse won the battle for Atlantis. Let's not put down this win. They aren't a top ten team, but it's still a win over a talented team that has already won some good games.

Did I not say it was a great win for SJU?

Have you seen that Cuse team play? Even the Cuse fans don't think they are any good.

I wasn't really debating with you, sorry about that.

Just pointing out that if they actually do finish in the middle of the ACC, well, that's a pretty top heavy conference (but very good at the top).

I did watch the game today and also watched Cuse play UConn.

Was at the game. This win was completely unexpected. We usually turn it over way too much, but we were smart with the ball today. We have been a bad shooting team recently, and shot 50% from 3 today. We had trouble rebounding, but with Yakwe here and Sima playing like a 5 star recruit, we did well today. We played as close to a perfect game as we possibly could as a very inexperienced team with a totally new staff just barely finding its chemistry and most of our talent coming next year or on the bench.

This is one of those games you're happy to lose by 10 to see some fight. But to win it? Man it feels good. For those who aren't in the NYC area, SJ V. Cuse is a huge rivalry. For way too long Cuse has been extremely dominant and their fans had the bragging rights. But now? We won the past 2 games against them including at the Carrier Dome. We had tons of high recruits in attendance which only makes it sweeter.

Syracuse is a very good team. They were off today but give credit to our defense. They are better than their ranking and will very likely end the season ranked in top 25 as they almost always are. Cuse is Cuse...they are one of the best overall programs in the nation. They are a huge name. It's like Kansas...even if they aren't ranked and you beat them, that's huge for perception and prestige.

From getting torn to shreds by a DII squad who shall remain nameless to dominating Cuse with only our scraps (save for a few) on the court...that's remarkable. Nothing felt better than seeing the frontrunning Cuse fans heading for the exits all upset. Ranked or not, this is one of the biggest wins in the past decade for the program with all things considered.

Keep it up Johnnies. Like I said before, you are my favorite team to follow besides X. You just can't beat the mystique of Mullin. NBA HOF'er and St. Johns legend coming back home. He has an old-school way of talking that is just cool.
