Toughest two losses of the year...

Postby NovaBall » Thu Dec 10, 2015 3:12 am

Arizona State and Loyola Chicago in back to back free throw shooting blunder games. The Duke and maryland and Michigan state games would have been nice to win, but more of a bonus to win than a harmful loss, and the Miami and oklahoma losses would have also been nice but we're never all that competitive so you can't cry over them. The radford loss is going to be viewed as a fluke. I don't see seton hall, marquette, at johns or depaul as competitive enough to worry about.

But how nice would it be to see Creighton at 8-1? I'm sure Stever would rip them somehow, but they really aren't that far away. They handed two games over. Those ones sting.

The toughest losses in my opinion are the Maryland-Gtown game cause Georgetown was up 7 late in that game and I think they really could've gotten that massive win.

Other tough loss is Villanova getting beat by 23 in a battle of top 10 teams.

On the other hand, we have G'town over Syracuse, XU by 29 over Dayton (who beat Vandy last night), Butler over Cincy, etc. -- plenty of quality wins for us so far.

Novaball I love some of the logic you use especially this one. Creighton loses at home to ASU and you call it a blunder but Marquette beats ASU on a neutral floor and you call Marquette not competitive. Then to another loss it's Belmont vs Loyola Chicago. For Marquette you once again call us non competitive against a returning tournament team and yet for Creighton it's just a blunder vs a traditionally really crappy, new to the MVC so really Horizon talent, team. Finally both of us got blown out by very good B1G teams so that even and yet I'm fairly certain nobody would argue Marquette's talent upside is higher than Creighton's. Really love your logic here.

Whoa. I missed that part of his post. How is Marquette not competitive? You know, NovaBall, your team should beat someone who's actually good before you call Marquette things like that

Nomination for dumbest thread of the year. So what was the purpose of the thread? Make yourself feel better by tearing down a conference foe? Seriously NovaBall, how about not getting embarrassed on national television in front of dozens of war heroes before you start bashing other programs. ASU just buried a top 25 team so they are probably pretty good. Yeah the losses hurt, but so does not making the sweet 16 as a No. 1 seed. You know, glass houses and all. (My apologies to all other Nova fans. Not intended as a slight against your team, which I fully support - brought these up for demonstrative purposes only)

Who am I tearing down?

And Tough to get too worried about nova. In 2009 they got blown out three times. You are allowed to lose games in college basketball. The nova loss to Oklahoma doesn't really hurt their resume.

On the other had, if Creighton hits a couple free throws we are talking about 6 big east bids instead of 5. That's why I think these two losses sting the most. Not tearing Creighton down there

I didn't read anything negative in his posts. He is just saying the same thing most Creighton fans are. "Boy, I wish Creighton showed up, hit free throws, and was sitting at 8-1 right now". Any CU fans not saying that right now?

Those two losses will haunt us.

Marquette fans insulted by this? Are we putting marquette in the competitive conversation? If so, great. I just must have missed the memo. I have been placing them with the Pirates,a slight notch ahead of the johnnies and depaul. My bad if we were looking towards the tourney for them.

Exactly. If I could have two back, it would be those two.
