Yeah, I agree with Stever on this. If you look at their record, it is the mark of a really good team, but it's not really the mark of an elite team.

That's debatable, depends on your definition of elite. But then again the point of this thread is basically that Gottlieb is a troll baiting no talent hack, not whether what he said about Nova is right or wrong. BTW if you don't think Nova is/was elite the last 2+ years, what's that say about what you think of the BE or X for that matter.

Villanova was really good, Xavier was just good, and Villanova was a miserable matchup for Xavier. Simple. Matchups matter. Xavier was a miserable matchup for Georgetown, which contributes to why Xavier went 3-0 against them with two double-digit wins and a closer game that was a double digit lead until Xavier almost blew it in the end. Georgetown actually gained a higher seed than Xavier but just couldn't beat them head to head.

As for Villanova versus the rest of the Big East, well, there were no other really good teams. That was the problem last year: Only one really good team and then a bunch of good to solid teams.

So you're saying the BE isn't an elite conference then. And if Xavier beats Nova this year, you've just crapped on that win(s) if they happen. Good job. Oklahoma can really shoot it, plus they can take you off the bounce with quick athletic guards. They're a bad match-up for most anyone, love how the sky is falling after one poor game 5,000 miles away in a crap arena.

The problem with the loss isn't the loss to Oklahoma by itself. It's the fact that the loss was so similar to a lot of their other OOC losses in the last few years.

What have they done OOC though?
This year 0-1 vs RPI top 50
last year 2-1 vs RPI top 50(adding in Temple win)
2014 2-2 vs RPI top 50(lose Iowa win)
so still 4-4 OOC vs RPI top 50.

Pretty much all Villanova's resume has been the last few years was conference based.

Compare to X OOC-
2014- 2-1 OOC vs RPI top 50
2015- 3-1 OOC vs RPI top 50(actually lose the Ole Miss win)
2016- 3-0 OOC vs RPI top 50
so X is 8-2 OOC vs RPI top 50 teams.

If Nova did OOC what X has done, they wouldn't get the shots taken at them that Gottleib took at them. But the fact is that they haven't. And they only have the UVA game before the tourney to do anything about it(well, maybe Temple).

Last 3 seasons, since beating Duke, they're 2-9 vs any OOC team with a pulse.
One of those 2 teams was boring Utah. By 3 pts. Big whoop.
The other was notoriously slow starting Michigan State. By 5. Zzzzzz.
They've been bounced in the 2nd round of the NCAA's the last 2 seasons.
