Well at least that L doesn't seem so bad after all but the Loyola game was the most embarrassing L the Jays have had in a long time.

Creighton should have been able to win today. But Loyola Chicago isnt a complete dreg team i dont think. I saw them a couple of times in the Great Alaska Shootout (featuring Pete Gillen). They seemed pretty athletic. They're in kind of a scheduling pool this year with Toledo and Unc Asheville, who are with Murray State and Middle Tennessee, etc... each of these schools is in the 100's... nothing spectacular, but we're not talking Utah Valley or Robert Morris. Plus on the road. Plus only a 3 point loss.

Every team is allowed a stinker game each year.

As a semi-impartial observer, I have actually done a 180 on McDermott and him leading Creighton in a high-major conference. I thought he would prove to be over his head after the Iowa State stint, but I really like the direction of Creighton's program going forward. Groselle and Milliken are solid players, but I think replacing them with Marcus Foster and a stronger, more mature Justin Patton vaults Creighton into top 25 territory next year. I think they are a top 50-75 team this year, and return most every one of note plus the aforementioned additions. Also, you guys have a great start to your 2017 class and seem to have a good one for 2016 in Davion Mintz. This week has let a lot of air out of this season's balloon, and made an NCAA bid a fairly big long shot. However, you guys just need to stay the course this year and a take a serious step up next year as many of the top players in this league graduate/go pro.

I would neither give up on this year or on Big Mac just yet. If CU can finish above .500 with a few wins coming against Nova, X, Butler, PC, Gtown then you're right back in the mix. A LOT of BB left to play, and when your conf mates excel in OOC games it provides each team more opportunities for statement wins. You guys never had that in the MVC but is a key part of being in a power conference: lots of chances to get your needed signature wins.

I love CU's style of play and you can see that the depth of talent is increasing. I think the biggest challenge for McD this year is figuring out the rotation. Maybe I am wrong but the Jays seem to be throwing a 9-10 man rotation out there in most games. I think he needs to find the best combination and let those guys play the lionshare. In watching CU this year (3x) I was both impressed and concerned with how deep into the bench Mac went. He played everyone and the flow of guys in and out was constant. A deep bench is great for injuries but hurts on floor chemistry IMO. But you guys know your team better than I do...

Creighton just needs to shake it off. one perceived bad loss doesnt mean season is over. Plenty of opportunities in conference play to make up for a loss to Loyola

this year's going to be a challenge though. They're having to win 10 or 11 games in conference play...

right now, they have 3 losses. If they lose to Oklahoma 4 losses. So that's a 9-4 record entering conference play. But with a 256 OOC SOS. Right now their projected RPI even going 10-8 in conference play is 64.1. I'd guess with that- they would need a win in the BET to get in the tourney. Getting 6 teams in the tourney, you need the 5th/6th team to be airtight with their OOC part. PC would be a fantastic candidate for a 5th/6th place team. Georgetown would as well.

Oh, and the loss to Loyola- it's a bad loss. Even with the win, they're projected at 14-15 with a 206 RPI. Unfortunately no perception there at all.

I land in the "It's not time to throw in the towel" group. We've just had two unfortunate losses, but both were winnable (could've/should've, but didn't). I would say Loyola is a bad loss, but again, we were picked in the 8-9 range in our conference by coaches and media. We are young, and we also have two transfers who aren't young, but are learning to gel roles with their teammates. We've seen good, solid play on both ends of the floor in some games and pretty crappy decision-making/play on both ends of the floor in other games.

I certainly thought that we were a long shot at best to make the post-season. As it is with every team in seasons with a lot of new parts, if everyone finds a role and fills that role to perfection, the ceiling is a lot higher than if most guys don't. We are in the third year of transition from Valley to BE. I haven't seen anything to suggest that McDermott sucks as a coach/recruiter or that this team isn't moving forward under his direction.

Hopefully Hoopdreams doesn't think that came off as typically arrogant.

Seen bits of Creighton 3 times. Only time I have been impressed was against UMASS when they ran their offense through Groselle. I recommend they go back to doing that.

We went to Groselle last game and for the most part, he got double teamed and we couldnt take advantage of it.
