LOL.

C'mon, tell us all again how you're not a BE hating troll.

what that was was folks woofing all their big crap about how good St john's is, how they are playing so hard, but how DePaul sucks- should get thrown out of the conference. Then last night, St John's gets blown out by FORDHAM, while DePaul blows the doors off of a team. It's pretty funny to me...

Go Blue Demons!!!!!

I didn't know until last night because frankly the program has been mostly irrelevant since the 90s, but Cincinatti fans are a bunch of whiners.

The AAC is an embarrassment.

Not true, they are a P6 conference that has the full support of ESPN behind them.

Ha.

I wouldn't even go 3:1, that that crap conference finishes Top 6 even 1 time in the next decade.

The AAC has proven that they are better than a Mid-Major like the Big East. Teams like Tulane and ECU are on the rise. Teams from the AAC no longer want to leave for other conferences because the next TV rights contract will be worth more than the ACC contract. They are P6 and have shown that via there play on the gridiron as well as the hardwood.

Creighton:
I watched only the last 10 minutes of the Creighton game. ASU has a good team and Hurley is a good coach. The Jays had good athleticism and size, and the refs let the teams play, which was a good thing.

CU looked like a Big East team out there, banging bodies. They should have won if they just executed on a couple of basic plays, hitting foul shots and securing rebounds. Most games they will execute properly on these correctable things, and will get the easy W, so that's a good thing. Also, they are still adjusting to playing with Watson, Huff and Thomas on the floor. The more minutes they get together, the more they'll improve. For example, they'll be cleaner on fastbreaks, which last night they screwed up on like 3 or 4 times off steals in the last 6 minutes.

Anyway, this isn't a bad loss, since ASU is a good team and has a good coach. Just beat Nebraska and take care of the cupcakes, and it's all good. Also, maybe steal one at Oklahoma.

DePaul:
I think it was an excellent sign that DePaul dominated from start to finish, even though UIC is pretty weak. Last year, DePaul needed a last second 3 to beat UIC at home. This year they were up 41-17 or so at the break. It looks like Tommy Hamilton didn't start (but had a good game), so I'm assuming Leitao is going to reward players that keep focus and play hard, which is a great sign.

On a Blue Demons' site, a DePaul fan wrote this about last night's game (love that Leitao tore into the team when they apparently dogged it late 2nd, love the lack of cockiness and strutting, which is a trait the 10 BE teams have):

"Nice to see us actually look like we should against one of these teams. The thing I liked the most was seeing our veteran players (Tommy, Mike, and Billy) hold the younger players accountable when the play got sloppy in the second half. I liked that Leitao called a timeout late and tore into the team when it got out of hand too. We actually have some level of leadership on this team. No unnecessary celebration or cockiness either. This team knew winning this game means nothing, and that they still have a lot of work to do."

Only saw bits and pieces of 3 games so here are my thoughts:

Butler
Butler gonna Butler

Creighton
Seemed to sort of get nervous when it counted. Also seems the team will go as far as Groselle will take them. Guards were very inconsistent.

Seton Hall
Hated their attitude in crunch time. Slumped shoulders etc.

At this point, I would guess we have 5 tourney teams: Nova, XU, Butler, Georgetown, Marquette/Providence
Xavier

Georgetown is pretty close to a must win situation on Saturday.. A loss there would give us 4- with 2 home losses and a neutral site loss. It would give us a 2.2-4.4 record for RPI purposes. Even if we win the rest of our OOC games before the season- 4 home and an away at Charlotte(could wind up being genius from a RPI standpoint)- we'd only be 6-4.4. With a nasty 2.5 week stretch late January with Nova, Xavier, UConn, Creighton, and PC(where if we lost the UConn game, that's 5 OOC losses and we'd need for sure to go 10-8 to have any prayer of a tourney bid). Season reminds me a bit of 2 years ago..

Speaking of nasty stretches saw this last night-
Butler to open the conference-
Providence
@ Xavier
@ DePaul
Villanova

It certainly does not have to be an either/or for Providence and Marquette making the tourney (and honestly, Marquette is most likely not winning out in that situation). The Big East is strong enough again to put 6 teams into the NCAA's, but in Marquette's case it will likely take finishing a game or two ahead of a couple of the top five teams (most likely case for me would be Butler and Providence). Marquette probably needs 10 conference wins to dance if we beat Wisconsin, and 11 if we do not beat the damn Badgers.

YEah, Marquette is going to be in constant battle this year. with the projected #336 OOC SOS, behind the 8 ball. They have to avoid the bad losses for sure....
Providence is in really good shape IMO. They will enter conference play with 1-2 losses. They may be able to get in the tourney even with a 8-10 conference record believe it or not.
Georgetown is the big ? IMO. Like I've said, they remind me a lot of 2 years ago.
