Here's my take on the HLOH BE Power Rankings... (RPI based) RPI is a fair tool to use and this is current, not some projection or pre-season opinion.

Here is the problem with using RPI so far....
top 4 teams in the country by RPI:
1 Arkansas Little Rock
2 Davidson
3 Xavier
4 UTEP

It's really a week or two away from team RPI meaning much.

All I really care about right now in terms of ranking the BE teams is that we, collectively, are laying the wood to everyone, pretty much. Damn, how anyone could argue for a better conference is beyond me.

Dude who said X 'would wipe the floor with Nova' --- C'MON MAN. I am as die-hard Xavier as anyone, but that comment is (a) wrong, (b) an extremely dayton thing to say, and (3) insulting/disrespectful to Nova. Until Xavier beats Villanova one time, please do not spew such garbage. I am newer to posting here, so I will give you a pass on that comment and hope that was just a one-time mistake said in light of the solid weekend of domination in Orlando. Splitting with Villanova would be a start for Xavier, given the head-to-head results over the past two seasons.

Here are my Big East rankings as of 11/30:

1. Villanova - class of the league and flagship until proven otherwise
2. Xavier - have looked like a Top 10 squad ever since the NKU game last week
3. Providence - if they would have taken down Michigan State, they would be tied with Xavier for #2. Cooley continues to impress me
4. Butler - solid, but will find out more when they face a tough Cincinnati team Wednesday
5. Georgetown - nice win over Wisconsin, and a few points away from being undefeated versus a solid schedule thus far. That Radford loss is inexcusable though.
6. Creighton - no wins that jump out as being good wins, yet, but only one loss. The loss was a massacre versus a reeling Indiana squad. One noteworthy remaining Non-Conference game against Oklahoma. Toss-up right now with Georgetown at this point, but I see a much higher ceiling for the Hoyas when compared to the Jays, which is why they are behind GT.
7. Marquette - good win over LSU, and two close losses to Belmont and Iowa. Confidence level starting to increase with Wojo and company.
8. Seton Hall - only loss versus an at-the-moment solid Long Beach State team. We will find out more after their game with GW on Wednesday.
9. St. Johns - lot of work to do, but I expect a much better team next year at this time.
10. DePaul - not good at basketball; hopefully that will change

Iowa was umm...not a close loss. We did beat Arizona state though. That Belmont screw up really stings now.

Seems like a consensus on the top 2, then the next 3, then as a gap and the creighton/seton hall/Marquette cluster.

I seem to be in the minority in my opinion that seton hall is a clear step ahead of Marquette and Creighton and in best position to be the sixth bid.

Seton Hall hasn't played anyone yet. Marquette has played 2 teams that should get bids this year(Iowa and LSU), and split- and also beat Arizona St that could look good.... Seton Hall has played Ole Miss?

I haven't seen a single thing in their on-court efforts that says SHU deserves to be higher than 8th.

I would love to have them come away with a huge win on Wednesday but I am of the opinion that it's more likely they lose by 20 or so than win.
