NovaBall,

Serious issues, my friend!

No one ever ripped Nova. They have GREAT talent. DePaul has AVERAGE talent....period. Tell me why you think differently. I know each of the current DePaul players very well and could share with you their strengths and weaknesses....and there are more weaknesses.

DePaul's program has been in complete disarray for a long time now. There are only a few coaches that could turn this around immediately. Those are Calipari and Pitino. And it would cost $$$ to do so.

Not even ST. Jay Wright could coach this team to the NCAA Tournament.

DePaul will learn what it takes to recruit the same way others do. I hope you understand that Brunson probably cost Big Jay some significant money.

How does DePaul's talent compare to Norfolk State's? Is Norfolk State a more talented squad, or equally talented squad, as DePaul? How come that was a tied game down the stretch? Does Norfolk State have a better coach?

And DePaul won 6 games in one of the best conferences in America last year, and returned most of the key players. Why is it too much to ask that they are competitive this year? Was Forest Robinson the key to the team last year?

DePaul should be competing for a tourney bid this year with the talent on that roster, even if you think they are average. Ollie Purnell was able to win 6 conference games last year with a team that basically quit on him down the stretch. And they didn't lose anybody of significance. DePaul's start to this season is extremely worrisome, even if you don't want to admit it.

I think if you give this DePaul roster to Chris Holtment, Big McBuckets, Chris Mack, JTIII, Cooley, or St. Jay, they easily finish in the top 100 RPI and float around the bubble this year. College basketball is real watered down and DePaul's roster is filled with experience and talent good enough to compete. They have a bad coach, that's the problem.

You can just as easily stop clicking on the thread and reading it.

This is a legitimate discussion.

Have you missed the first few weeks of the season?

Have you not seen all the upsets? It is one of the best years EVER for this. Enjoy it.

Still would like to know how old you are. I am 53. I am guessing you are about 25, correct?

I'm old enough to remember nova winning it all as an 8 seed over gtown, billy the kid lighting up the tourney 1987, and seton hall getting screwed in '89.

i watch tons of basketball, including DePaul, and I root for all the big east teams, including DePaul. It kills me to see one of our teams struggle against western Michigan and Norfolk state and lose three games they could have had, getting waxed in two of them.

No more excuses. I'm tired of hearing the excuses from Chicago. They have just as much talent as pen state, South Carolina and Florida state, and way more talent than western Michigan and Norfolk. The kids are good enough, something else is wrong.

The crazy thing about the Leitao apologists is that they want to blame the kids. Billy Garrett, Hamilton, etc... The kids are fine, they aren't the ones letting us down. But blaming them is acceptable for the Leitao apologists, but if you blame the captain of the boat one is called a moron and accused of not watching the games, etc.. Why don't you stop hating on the kids and point the finger in the right direction?
