Fire Leitao and/or DePaul Athletic Director??

Postby NovaBall » Sat Nov 21, 2015 3:55 pm

Seriously, how are they so bad? They have decent players. They should not be loosing to Penn State (who just lost by 25 to Duquesne) or getting blown out of the gym by South Carolina
If DePaul loses to a florida state team that just lost to a rebuilding Hofstra squad' i Hinkle he should be fired immediately during the post game press conference.

This was a very questionable hire to begin with, and we are starting to see why.

And I'm not looking for any excuses regarding talent. The talent is there in Chicago. This is all coaching.

DePaul should see how the rest of the season goes before considering firing Dave Leitao.

Leitao is definitely not a sexy hire, but it would be ridiculous to fire him without 5 years (4 years of his recruits) of at least giving him a shot.

Novaball, you've already said this several times. You may be vindicated in time but try giving the guy a chance first. Even if they have good talent, as you say, it takes time for a coach to get his guys and implement his system. I'm not trying to be insulting or argumentative, but give the guy a few more games at least.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Spanked again by a bad team.....

Why am I just a kid for thinking this is a major concern? He has good players. This is a guy who only had one winning record in four seasons at Virginia and no other school has given a sniff since he was fired.

What's the attraction to this guy? And I don't buy that he had success at DePaul once therefor he deserves the job. His first stint at DePaul was only three years, he wasn't winning with his own recruits, and they only made the dance once as a bubble team.

And then he bolted for greener pastures and failed (right when DePaul was entering the big east) So why go with him again? I could see if he had a decade at DePaul, did well, left for the NBA, got fired after w few seasons and then wanted to return to the college game. But this guy ditched a brand new big east addition to go to a blah ACC program and now he gets taken back with open arms?

But whatever on that. His start has been absolutely terrible. Three really bad losses out of the gate. This isn't a slip up to radford followed by a competitive game against a top 5 team. This is panic button time.

NovaBall, you're absolutely ridiculous when it comes to talking about DePaul/Leitao. It does't matter if the talent is good or not, DL needs HIS jimmies and joes. It appears the players he has now, don't fit him very well. Also, FWIW, South Carolina is #41 in the Pomeroy RPI while FSU, despite getting upset by Hofstra, is #39. This year was going to be a struggle for them (as thats normally the case with a new coach) but I still think they can pull off some upsets or give some superior opponents scares.

I think most of us can agree that the only fanbase in the conference that has REAL reasons to call for a coaches job is Seton Hall.

DePaul just lost to penny state, South Carolina and Florida state, and it is ridiculous to be concerned?

And that is bs that he needs his jimmy and joes's. He didn't have his own recruits in his first stint ate epaul which everyone seems to point to as a reason he is a good coach because he had a bubble team one year. His only tourney team at Virginia was with someone else's recruits. And when he had his own guys at the end at Virginia they stunk.

This guy isn't some unknown commodity. We know what he is as a coach, and it isn't good. And the way this season has begun is consistent with his past.

Someone tell me how I am wrong?
