In the old Big East G'Town was practically always ranked and a clear elite program. Not seeing them ranked is weird and they seem to have taken a fairly big step back. I don't know what it is. Of course you could argue the new 10 team format where there are really no doormats has an effect. It's hard to get and stay ranked if you aren't bulldozing your way through a conference. Here, it's very tough to do that and only Nova has shown that capability. But at the same time, G'Town was supposed to be right up there with Nova if not better some years. When the NBE formed, I knew we wouldn't have many ranked teams anymore but G'Town should still be good enough to float around the 17-25 range for most if not all of the year. Having ranked teams is very important, because it makes for must see TV, adds drama, and gives bubble teams in the NBE 2 (maybe 3 in BET) to add a top 25 win to the resume and punch their ticket.
G'Town has just looked more pedestrian in recent years. I remember seeing my Johnnies blow them out by 20 a few years back at the Garden. I was very happy, but something in my gut just felt like it wasn't supposed to happen. Just a weird feeling. I really hope G'Town can get back to being a constant top 25 team, because Nova can't be the only team getting national respect and coverage. Until teams like G'Town, Marquette, PC, SJ, Butler step up, we will be seen as a 1 team league much like the AAC with UConn.

You mean constantly ranked in the top 25 like last year and finished 2nd to Nova in the BEast to boot.
Sorry, I'm confused about the point your trying to make.
