He has put a lot of guys in the NBA, and has had some solid regular seasons. Can't get too upset over some of the early exits. Losing to steph curry, or losing to Shaka smart's breakout team, or a Florida gulf coast team that just found an amazing chemistry in March. It happens.
The head scratchers are when they just seem to under perform against bad teams like last night. And when is the last time they had a real strong out of conference effort that turned heads? The win against Florida last year was nice perception wise (Florida ultimately finished below .500), but otherwise it seems more likely they will lose to a northeastern or radford than beat a ranked team out of conference over the past few years.
A big thing though is he seems to,run his program the right way. His kids don't come off as punks, he has a certain type of player that fits his system and he seems to be able to land those 6-7 to 6-11 forwards/centers that make people think of Jeff green, Otto porter and Greg Monroe. He seems to have a solid philosophy/identity that every program needs over the long run.
As long as he is able to sell recruits in his ability to put big men in the NBA then that program will be fine. But I join the group anxiously awaiting the Hoyas to bring some national credibility to the new big east. Last night was frustrating.
