St John's played much different than last year. Less raw talent, but for the most part better shot selection and common sense They were looking to drive the lane most if the game. They had no crazy 18 foot jumpshots with 27 seconds still on the shot clock. The game was a halfcourt game for the most part. A ton of lead changes, but SJU held a slight lead most of the second half.
SJU had a tough stretch where they jacked up 3's on like 4-5 straight possessions, all misses, allowing Wagner to tie it at around 39-39. But they then got back to a more disciplined offense and regained their sea legs.
Mussini can get hot from 3, but he is pretty weak at PG at this point, but a tough assignment for a freshman. Mvouia, #24, was better at not making mistakes at the point. SJU has some talent though. Sima looked really really good, nice baby hook and a solid rebounder. There was a Pitt transfer that had some talent, might have been Durand Johnson. Christian Jones looked great at the 3 or 4.
Mullin looked really good on the bench. Low drama, good nature, no panic. Didnt scream at poor decision making, just settled the team down with a good attitude. Seemed to try to keep things simple at this point and was very patient. They're going to struggle this year, but the Johnnies are a very likeable team, with no one showboating or giving off a bad attitude.
