So a bare minimum of $200k for every yr that nova trims WFC games to keep eligibility for the dance, times the four times it happens a decade, so about $800k a decade.

Yeah, real big hit for a program that earns over $10 mill per yr. $800k represents less than 1% of nova's basketball revenue over the decade.

HUGE PROBLEM!!! Especially for a school with so much extra money for athletics that they run a football program with no fan base $5 mill in the red every year.

Stever once again showing that he doesn't understand the big picture.

Also, I'm not sure what stever is even proposing here. Nova should not trim those two games in years where the WFC is a host site? Or nova needs to drop a hundred mill for a new on campus arena and stop playing at the WFC all together to avoid that huge hit they take in revenue a few times a decade. Methinks stever is just being stever and has no clue what he is talking about.

They need to spend the money for a new on campus arena so there isn't that huge gap in the years that Nova is hosting the NCAA tourney. This year- that gap probably is around 900k. You can act like that's not a big deal- but that's a good chunk of money. It's definitely nothing to sneeze at- that's for sure.

And you can say that it's just a few times a decade, but this is now 4 times in 11 years.

So they need to drop a hundred million in a new on campus arena so every few years they don't lose a few hundred thousand?

And considering even with a new arena, which is in the works, capacity would not increase due to zoning restrictions, so they would still utilize the NBA arena, what the heck are you talking about?

Stever being stever....

capacity is only part of things. It's all the other things. It's the suites. Stuff that means a lot more than just capacity quite frankly. And stuff that can get even more money for Nova in the years they don't host the tourney.

So you think nova should build an on campus arena and stop using the NBA arena all together? That's not what is best for the dynamics of Villanova basketball.

They are going to renovate or rebuild the pavilion, which will include luxury suites, etc... But they aren't going to stop using the NBA arena. And the fact they miss out on a handful of games every few hrs to stay tourney eligible is not going to cause them to stop playing at the NBA arena.

Nova does a great job balancing the in campus games and the NBA games. And they will continue to do so.

No, rebuild the on campus arena and still use the NBA arena.

So you agree with Nova's current plan it seems....

So what is the "problem"? They will still cut back two WFC games in those years when the tournament is in Philly. Additionally, it will essentially be the same situation as it is now, except the arena will be much nicer and more comfortable with additional luxury suites and better concessions and such.
