BE Opening Weekend Game Thread - Nov 13, 2015...

Postby billyjack » Tue Nov 10, 2015 12:00 am

Big East teams are in action this weekend:
[SEE BIGMANU'S LIST SEVERAL POSTS BELOW FOR A MORE COMPLETE TELEVISION SCHEDULE]...

Friday November 13th:
Wagner at St John's, 6pm, FS1.
Fairleigh Dickinson at #11 Villanova, 7pm, FS2.
Miami of Ohio at Xavier, 7pm.
Dartmouth at Seton Hall, 7pm, YES.
Belmont at Marquette, 9pm.

Saturday November 14th:
Radford at Georgetown, 12pm, FS2.
Harvard at Providence, 7pm.
The Citadel at #24 Butler, 7:30pm, FS2.
Western Michigan at DePaul, 9pm.
Texas Southern at Creighton, 9:30pm, FS2.

Sunday, November 15th:
Wagner at Seton Hall, 1:30pm, FS1.

Can we count on 11-0...?
I think we have a very good chance of that. The biggest possible stumbling blocks are the question marks at St John's who should still beat Wagner, the Seton Hall chemistry situation, and the Providence lack of a true giant center (and Harvard graduated some key starters). Belmont is usually good, but Marquette has some great talent. I actually am pretty high on DePaul... I think they'll focus on defense and rebounding, and won't do anything stupid. I think each of these issues will be overcome this weekend.

Worried about SJU and I'm not sure how good Harvard is this year but they are usually pretty good so I'm sure the game against Providence will be close.

Yeah, I think we're lucky that it's an opening game so Harvard will still be adjusting to some new guys, more than even PC. We can just ride KD, Bentil and Bullock...

I think most of the teams will coast.

I'm concerned about:

St. John's vs. Wagner (Big question marks about the team)
Marquette vs. Belmont (Lots of question marks and a quality opponent)
Providence vs. Harvard (Lots of question marks and a quality opponent)

Harvard has guard issues with Chambers out for the year. I doubt they win the Ivy League. That should be a reasonably comfortable win.

I actually think Marquette loses. Belmont returns 4 starters from a tournament team and every writer for a few years now has said the 15-16 Belmont team will be one of the best teams they've ever had. Experience usually beats talent around this time of the year and Belmont has loads of experience.

Marquette has such a weak nonconference, they really cant afford to lose to Belmont.
