Boston College-irrelevant
Pitt-soon to be irrelevant. Northern East Coast recruits have turned their backs on them.
Syracuse-wins vacated
Rutgers-pick a transgression and they have been irrelevant for years.
Miami-dominated in football in the BEast. Now just another team in the watered done ACC.
Virginia Tech-see Miami
Now Louisville-prostitution etc.
The hits just keep coming!!!!!!!!!
The Beast is doing just fine without this nonsense. I cant say enough great things about the direction of our league. We are starting to scratch the surface of our recruiting. We will be at a superior level very soon. If St. John's does what I think they'll do, it will help the conference tremendously. Can't ignore NYC! Those St. John's, Georgetown, Nova, Marquette (Wojo) recruiting battles should be epic.

Roy Williams - academic fraud at the level never before seen at a respectable University and high major program; will be gone when that sentence eventually gets levied
Jim Boeheim - ignored abhorrent player (and coach) behavior for years; team sat out post-season last year; encouraged to retire
Great write up by the Hoya faithful:
http://www.casualhoya.com/2012/12/17/3776630/jim-boeheim-900-wins-syracuse-orange-basketball
Jim Calhoun - ignored a laundry list of player indiscretions (including not sitting his star PG after he stole laptops from fellow students); caught / punished for recruiting violations and sat out the postseason; encouraged to step down
Pitino - first the personal sex thing with the woman in the restaurant and now this. Time to hang them up Ricky.
Larry Brown - academic fraud; will surely leave soon as per his M.O.
What I think is that these guys were probably so used to getting whatever they wanted from the schools that they worked at, and didn't think twice about doing whatever was necessary to win at all costs (prostitutes, bullying teachers to pass players, shielding them from legal prosecution, etc.). In this TMZ Sports culture, though, nothing is going to be missed anymore. Maybe these old heads just can't change with the times, and don't know how to play the game cleanly.
And I do have to say that I am very much enjoying watching these teams leave the BE and slowly start to self-implode.

In college football right now- only 3 guys have been at their schools since 1999- Beamer at Va Tech, Stoops at Oklahoma, and Ferentz at Iowa. Only 12 guys have been at their school longer than 10 years. In basketball- only 18 guys have been at their schools since 1999- and then only 41 are starting their 11th season this year. With a number of the 41 at smaller schools. I think the career type coaches are going by the wayside. Where if you get a guy for 15-20 years- count yourself lucky. And that number may shrink a lot going forward.
Look at the Big East- right now only Wright and JT3 have been with the school longer than 10 years. The #3 coach is Mack, starting his 7th season at X.

Maybe, maybe not. College basketball is so different. Unless it is a blue blood program who is used to FF's (UK, Duke, UNC, KU, maybe Mich/Indiana), the pressure is mostly just to get to the post season and perhaps you can catch some magic. In the FB BCS world you get fired from Michigan if you can't beat OSU, you get fired from Bama if you don't beat Auburn. A coach at USC better not come in 2nd+ the PAC-12 too often. I think the pressure is different because there is such a huge disparity in FB between those making the most money and those chasing them for those bucks. Getting a high profile bowl bid is financially HUGE for thse shcools. There also seems to be many more "blue blood" programs in FB--probably 4-5 in each P5 conference, who all have very high expectations to compete for a BCS bowl every year. I think it is harder for schools to be loyal to coaches who aren't producing in FB than in BB. There is too much at stake.
In BB I think it is easier to put down roots and stay there. Nova is JW's dream job; same with G'town & JTIII. Where's Mullin going to go other than SJU? Daddy McBuckets seems pretty entrenched at CU and he already experienced a bigger state school at Iowa St. Why would he go back to that kind of environment when Creighton is like a Midwest Hoops Field of Dreams. Didn't Cooley say PC was his dream job too? I could see him staying there a long time. Not sure about Mack, Holtman and Wojo (who could very well be the heir apparent at Duke). I could see Ollie at UCONN as long as Calhoun was before him. They all make a pretty good living and are top dogs on their campus.
