WELCOME TO THE BIG EAST

What an absolutely great, great time to be a member of the Big East. Welcome to Butler, Creighton and Xavier fans. You will love it here. It was not so long ago when a move by the Core 7 of this kind was derided as lunacy. We could never put together a league without football that would get a TV deal. We would get A-10 money from TV in the area of $500,000.00. Madison Square Garden would bolt and try to make a deal with the ACC. Today, we have a ten team league that will play a true round robin schedule. We have marque teams in the largest markets in the country including New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Indianapolis and Chicago. Seven of the ten teams are currently playing in the post-season. Next season could see more than half the league in the NCAA tourney. The league will be a regular at Madison Square Garden for St. John's games and of course, the Big East Tournament. And if there is a television network that promotes events better than Fox Sports, I don't know who it is. The Big East Reborn video put together for the press conference was excellent. So here we go gang - Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's, Villanova, Xavier ---- THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE
