Dayton Daily News doing some investigating.. Basically says that Creighton is 10, and UD and SLU are 11 and 12, barring "politics."

I'm sure the Dayton Daily News isn't biased hahah. And this entire thing is politics.

Richmond / St. Louis / Dayton... we'll see what happens.

Article by Hamilton from Chicago Tribune saying X, Butler and Creighton for next year.

The additions of Xavier, Butler and Creighton should become official by Wednesday or Thursday, according to sources familiar with the talks. And thus the new Big East would take shape for 2013-14.

Xavier and Butler left Atlantic 10 meetings in New York on Friday, according to Sports Illustrated. The thought was that league might vote on increasing exit fees Friday, and if Xavier and Butler announced their imminent withdrawal, they would have lost voting rights and therefore would have had to exit the meeting.

The Atlantic 10 is holding its league tournament at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, Creighton indeed will be the 10th team in the league, a source told the Tribune. There had been some debate on the identity of any additions after Xavier and Butler, but the new Big East has settled on Creighton for certain, barring unexpected complications.

I really wonder how much sway those 3 schools will have in selecting the next 2 additions. That could make a significant difference.

I don't know, but I am fairly confident that Creighton will always vote for what in the best interest of the league and not just themselves. Their time in the Valley would back that up.

I am definitely not saying that Dayton won't get in, but all of these articles recently basically say the people who said all of this was a done deal don't have all of the facts.

The more I read, the more I'm sure it's Xavier, Butler, Creighton for next year and that's it.

This staggered start seems to be bull.

According to Thamel:
Recently, John Thompson III joked that he'd love to call the new Big East "the Georgetown league." But when you look at what's happened, he may not be joking. There have been formal discussions about the new league's office being in Washington. The lawyer who is essentially acting as commissioner, Joe Leccese, is a Georgetown graduate. The person who will be spearheading the search for the new commissioner, Liz Boardman of Russell Reynolds, is a former Georgetown field hockey player.

Also, contrasting point of view on the Hoyas being in VCU/Richmond's court... If not those two, and not Dayton and St. Louis, is it fair to say Georgetown is the only one lobbying for 10 teams?
While Georgetown hasn't lobbied against VCU in meetings, television sources say that the Hoyas don't want VCU in the league. (The prevailing thought being that VCU is too close geographically for Georgetown's comfort and being a public school doesn't fit the profile.)

Fox's offer of nearly $500 million, which will pay schools north of $4 million per season, was contingent on not talking to another network.

Wonder why, says they left money on the table.

Anyways, Thamel is a Syracuse grad? That would explain why he seems so negative towards us, kind of. Hard to buy a negative piece about Georgetown written by a Syracuse grad that just called for all of us to be bludgeoned.
