Of course they are (NY/NJ metro & Chicagoland) those markets are a big part of the reason that they invested so much in the Big East. Anyway those two programs are down from an inability to compete in the Old BE model, the new BE model is already paying benefits for SHU on the recruiting trail. Short-sighted jabs.

1 is on CBSSN the other is a 9pm Tuesday night game... FS1 didn't invest in the BE because of SH or DePaul, they did so in spite of those 2.

If I remember correctly, I think depaul and Shu got the lions share of cbssn games this year right?

Look everybody knows I think you're a loser. Whatever you think of me is whatever too. But I respect HLOH enough to not get caught up repeating that point to you. Why don't you find someone who actually likes you or cares what you have to say to chat with. Sooo many other posters here. Anything else is just trolling Steve.

Somewhat... I think of Nova playing at WFC as a comparison. I would assume the university would run busses down to the Arena. But I get that DePaul is bad for a long time, and it's probably finals week. I worry that so many bad seasons breaks a fan base and a tradition. Can they get back?

Tough to say. Their last 20 win season ('06-07) they drew 10,000+ per game. That wasn't so long ago, although they haven't had a winning season since. There is usually a small bump in attendance/overall awareness during a season of resurgence, the following year is where major growth can occur. There is potential, but it will take consecutive winning seasons at some point. OP probably gets a couple more years to try and win (not that I think he deserves it, but DePaul fans seem to think their administration is loathe to get rid of him). After that I would imagine there are plenty of coaches out there that DePaul could hire to get them to at least 16 wins.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

In fairness, DePaul has been bad for a while now and Chicago State (enrollment 7,000 with 5,000 undergrads) is probably behind Northwestern, University of Illinois-Chicago, DePaul, and Loyola among Chicago schools. Small enrollment+poor performance=low attendance. DePaul was just trying to schedule an easy win here. They failed.

Take a poll of Chicago college sports fans and Illinois and Notre Dame will be 1-2. Third will likely be Northwestern, but nowhere as popular as the first two. The other three you mention are in a different zip code. U of I schedules at least one game each year in Chicago. This year it is UIC. They will fill up the United Center. DePaul has a very difficult task of garnering the Chicago spotlight.

It will be interesting to see how many fill the MSG next weekend when Notre Dame squares off against Ohio State.

DePaul is on a Quarter system (3 quarters = 1 academic year). The first quarter ends right before Thanksgiving then the students go on Winter Break all through December. So the campus is basically dead except for a few stragglers taking fast track December classes. They start the second Quarter at the start of the new year.

When I was a attending there, they would shuttle students from campus around 4:30 for a 7 pm or 8 pm game. This is tricky because there are many late afternoon classes and evening classes, so it would mean, many students had to miss those classes if they had them. They are shuttling kids during rush hour and factor in the Chicago snow during the winter=not a good trip. We wouldn't get back on campus until midnight most nights.

Bulldog Muskie is correct, majority of students do not have cars, there is simply no place to park. That is why DePaul has been advocating hard for that Arena in the city. All 25k students pay into the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) regardless if they use the fare or not. Everyone gets a CTA card which is unlimited rides on the "El" and buses. This is because they also have a building in the loop where many students take classes. Business classes are held there. Kids go back and forth to Lincoln Park which is the main campus.

DePaul is big by C7 standards. They are bigger than Cuse. I don't really know, but I'd guess a fair amount of alumni are in the Chicago area. Seems like there would be enough that are directly connected to the university to have its own fan base.

Box score said 6000+ attendees. I guess that is tickets sold, not attendance. I would have guessed 2000 or less by the TV views. Am I wrong, or was there 6000+?
