If the A10 outperforms us, that will definitely be of concern. Especially after taking two of their best teams last year.

We are a month into the season. A little early to be deeming a team disappointing don't you think? Dayton should have lost to IPFW if not for a freak ending. Would the maniacs be singing a different tune if they lost that game? Dayton has contributed nothing in terms of NCAA relevance ever as far as I can tell and I don't think them being ranked for 1 week in the last decase is going to change anything as far as the Big East goes.

Marquette though has gone in the month from being a 4 projected to being one of the last 4 in(and you can't argue that). They had about 6 chances in the OOC to do something, and so far they're like 0-3.

The A10 isn't just Dayton. They right now would have 23/26/28/39. Compared to us at 15/29/35/45. With a much closer 5th team. This shows why Nova was so critical this weekend- if they don't beat Kansas, it's very possible that we don't have a team ahead of their UMass, and then all the other spots are advantages for the A10.

Big East has a great future, next year, every team should be as good or better except Creighton or DePaul. Also, the A-10 and AAC have weak bottoms this year meaning greater chances for bad losses and drops in RPI.

Bingo. A10 has to many in the high 200s low 300s rpi wise. I havnt looked to see where they are in past few days but assuming near same spots. BE has a better chance to get 5 in than A10 would if they had same 10 team round robin schedule. BE should do fine but they need to pick up few more signature wins in OOC if they want to be grouped with ACC, B1G, etc

You just can't say that about the A10 though- about if they had the 10 team round robin.. They just don't have the round robin schedule. If they get 5 teams in, and BE gets 4, it doesn't look good for us.

Also- especially for the AAC, you can say just the opposite- if SMU beats say Memphis and UConn 1 time- that is the huge win that gets them into the tourney from where they are now. Butler doesn't have that unless they sweep Nova. That's the thing that's hurt the most about us not getting the big wins- we don't have that rub now in conference play that we're accustomed to getting.

I don't think what the A10 does or doesn't do this year has any bearing on the Big East at all.

I think you are kidding yourself. If come March, the A10 has 5 teams, and BE has 4(especially if it's like today, with a play in team amongst the 4)- that's not going to look good at all for the Big East. Not in the least.

OK. We all know it's December right? And they pick these teams in March right? So we are in trouble because we have four teams in as of December 4? We will get five bids.

5 bids in any 10 team round robin league is dicey at best- like best case scenario type deal- especially when you have not as much top tier teams like us this year.. What we've had so far is far from best case scenario. We don't have the top 10 teams that if you beat them it carries a lot of cache this year. Georgetown and Marquette both have 2-3 losses, with a few tough OOC games left. I think anyone looking at the Big East with anything but rose colored glasses would say that it'd take a lot for us to get 5. For us to get 5, we have almost now zero margin for error.

Well we're already halfway through out of conference play with most of the big games (from the tournaments) behind us. So far it has been disappointing. I personally think things will get better, but just saying as of now only having one ranked team isn't how I expected us to do first month.

There have been disappointments in that there are games that could have been won against high profile opponents, or at least relatively high profile opponents, that were lost. These have to be considered missed opportunities.

But it's hard to rate this season as overall disappointing at this point - not when power ratings still have them as a top 5 conference, based solely on this year's results. They're neck and neck with the ACC for 4th and are ahead of both the SEC and the SEC. There are a lot of games left to play and the season still has to take shape/

I feel like we've lost a lot more close games than we won, so hopefully the law of averages evens out for us soon. The lone exception has been Nova but they're only one of ten teams.
