No Big East games on Monday, but we climb right back up on that horse tomorrow with 1 game:

Creighton at Long Beach State.

Looking forward to the Bluejays getting back on track...!

Pretty much all this week is must win
Tue- Creighton @ Long Beach St- 83% chance of winning
Wed- Penn @ Villanova- 96% chance of winning
Thu-LIU Brooklyn @ Seton Hall-87% chance of winning
Thu-Providence @ Rhode Island- 68% chance of winning
Thu-High Point @ Georgetown- 94% chance of winning
Sat-Colgate @ Georgetown-94% chance of winning
Sat-Fordham @ St John's-87% chance of winning
Sat-Bowling Green @ Xavier-94% chance of winning
Sat-North Dakota @ Butler-92% chance of winning
Sat-Villanova @ St Joe's-66% chance of winning
Sun-Nebraska @ Creighton-88% chance of winning
If we lose even 1 of those 11 games, it's a problem.

only one we're not favored:
Fri-Arizona St @ DePaul- 49% chance of winning
Sat-Marquette @ Wisconsin-21% chance of winning
Sun Seton Hall @ Rutgers-48% chance of winning
If DePaul and Seton Hall can win their 2 games, I'm happy. Not exactly counting on Marquette there- though it would be the big win for them.

Yeah nothing but bad losses on that list. I will say that the new schools need to get rid of these away games at schools like Long Beach. They are no win situations. Butler plays at Ball State and Evansville this year, they almost lost the first and I could see a similar thing happening again

I'd say that the Marquette win over Wisconsin is the most critical. We don't need to play good teams close. We need big wins. Much more important than what the Hall does with LIU.

Unfortunately I'm almost certain we won't go undefeated with that list. Every week we say "We need to win em all" or "We need to go 5-1" and it always turns into 3-3 or 1-5 somehow. This league is not good enough right now to go beat all those teams. Seton Hall and DePaul are not safe against any team in division 1. Marquette has not been Marquette. G'Town has not been G'Town. Butler, while fighting valiantly in a year they were not expected to do much cannot close games. SJ while showing flashes of brilliance (2nd half vs. GT blew them out of the water) is the least consistent team. PC fought well vs. UK but you have to wonder how much that took the wind out of their sails. Is the law of averages coming to bite them with a few L's? Creighton lost some surprising games they should have blown teams out. When Creighton's shots are not falling, their not so hot defense becomes more apparent. Really the only as advertised team IMO is Nova. I knew they'd be ranked this year after seeing Arcidiacono drop 30 on us last year. Nova is insanely consistent and they just know how to win.

To go undefeated vs. all those teams would imply we have consistency and we don't. Once we get Creighton, Marquette, G'Town back to being where they should be i.e. #15-25 ish teams then maybe I'll buy into the stock that we can go undefeated some days or weeks. I know this may not be what some people want to hear, but it seems like it will be just a down year for the Big East. Other years we will have 4-5 ranked teams. Right now we only have 1 legitimately good team. All others are decent until proven otherwise. Expect a few bad losses.

think the difference this week Lavinwood- if we lose 1 of those 11 games I said are must win- it's really bad. I guess if Providence lost to Rhode Island or except for the ratings Nova @ St Joe's those 2 wouldn't be catastrophic losses, but the other 9 with no less than a 83% chance of winning would be just that- catastrophic. The games this week are games vs teams like Penn, LIU Brooklyn, High Point, Colgate, Bowling Green, Fordham, North Dakota.

This week is a great opportunity to get some momentum and wins. There's a lull we're in right now before the traditional local rivalry games with the Marquette-Wisconsin game, and the other Phila Big-5 games and Syracuse game with Villanova, the St John's-Syracuse game, XU-Cincinnati, Creighton-Nebraska, then the PC-UMass game and Georgetown-Kansas.

Still some opportunity to make up ground, and there's every reason to think we'll hit the rivalry games with a running start.

I think the 1 game to me that is so dangerous is the Providence/Rhode Island game. You wonder what kind of hangover Providence has from the Kentucky game.

It's a late one (10:00 ET) but if anyone is interested the game will be at www.bigwest.org/tv
Hope my Jays can bounce back and start hitting shots again.

In regard to playing this game in the first place, it is a required return game from the Bracket buster. Creighton didn't want to be a part of it to begin with, but the whole concept was the MVC commissioner's baby, so we were pretty much forced to go along with it. I can assure you we won't be scheduling games like this going forward.
