I don't know how many folks thought that Seton Hall was a realistic candidate for making any kind of noise. Providence on the other hand. Especially what it means with the other 2 games in their tourney.

I can't believe Seton Hall lost that game. Painful.

What?! How do you blow a 6 pt lead with 31 secs left?

By having Kevin Willard as your coach. Maybe let Tiny draw up the last-minute plays next year.

Things I'm noticing with SJ:

We pass the ball way too slowly. We find an open man but by the time it gets to them the defenders obviously get back in time. Sometimes our shooters hesitate too. When you are open and the ball is passed to you, shoot immediately. Our guys seem to fake first, then when the defense doesn't bite they have no other plan so they just pass it back out.

I can already tell we aren't trying to blowout Monmouth. Lavin is using them as an experiment to try different lineups and test our 3 pt shooting. I think that's risky because if we let them hang around they gain confidence and become inspired to slay the giant. I'd rather see our starters win by 30 than risk a huge upset using them as an experiment. I'm beginning to wonder if we can ever blow anyone out…including a high school team. Coming to Carnesseca has some kind of magic ability where all teams seem even with us.

That was absolutely terrible clock management and just all around poor decision making. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Looks like we will go into half with single digits separating us and the worst team in the MAAC.

Impossible for us to blow anyone out. Impossible. If I wanted to face a major conference team as the coach of a mid major, I'd face us because we can never get a laugher. The talent gap is 100% evident but the points are not there. 28 pts in the first half against the basement MAAC team is NOT going to cut it.

This team has to be one of the hardest to watch. No continuum, no rhythm, no consistency. Vomit.

AND WE JUST FOULED THEIR SHOOTER TAKING A 3 WITH THE SECONDS WINDING DOWN GOING TO HALFTIME. WTF OMG.

Let's see, you have to do all of the following things:

1) Instead of pulling the ball back out and trying to run clock, go 1 on 3 and try to make a highlight reel dunk. Result: blocked shot/turnover and transition basket.

2) When inbounding the ball after the basket you gave up in #1, turn the ball over. Result: Oklahoma basket.

3) Repeat #2, but make sure you foul the guy you turned the ball over to. Result: free throws.

4) When the guy you fouled in #3 misses a free throw, make sure that you let his team get the rebound. Then, foul him quick. Result: opponent now has one point lead.

5) On your final possession after all of the above, when you need a basket to keep from losing, have your PG fumble the ball as he dribbles it across the line at center court. Game over.

UNBELIEVABLE.

It's clear Lavin is going easy on them testing our shooting ability. We haven't even sniffed the paint. I hate being a submissive team like this. I envy all the other major conference schools who come out with 97-52 scores. That's what this should be, but instead it's 28-26 heading into half. One of our players should have 28 by now. Monmouth is godawful. We blocked like 5 of their shots and they haven't even made a 3 and somehow they are a bucket away. We can't run a fast break if you held a gun to our heads. Get a turnover? Run down the lane…open guy next to you and defenders blocking you. Pass the ball to the open man for a layup? Nah, we'd rather try to go through 3 guys and make a shot. Then when we have an open lane, instead of taking it to the hoop, we pass it further out. Or we try an alley-oop and miss. Get the gimme points and we'd be up by 10 right now.

The game may not even be the worst thing Seton Hall lost today. If Patrik Auda's out for any extended period of time (which early signs indicate he will be) Seton Hall's front court suddenly becomes very thin.
