Georgetown breaks into the top 25 today. Earlier in the summer, USA Today didn't have the Hoyas ranked. #25 makes more sense to me than where College Sports Madness has them at #36. I'm guessing that Georgetown will actually do better than this projection, which has them at a #7 seed. They have a lot of talent on that team even without Porter and Whittington.

Creighton comes in today at #19, a 5 seed and 2nd in the Big East. This means that they are picking Marquette at the top of the Big East.

Marquette comes in at #16, a 4 seed, and the article has a slew of factual and grammatical errors, referring to such players as "Duane Johnson" and "Trey Blue," and with [sic]s all over the place. I think the champion of the Big East will earn at least a 3 seed, but only time will tell. But five teams in the tourney still means Respect Town, Population: Big East so I can't complain too much... about the number of teams. If I could find the comments section, I would complain very loudly about the many errors the article contains.
I like the Marquette Basketball team, if you are wondering.

About where the coaches poll has us and where I see this team so I'm not upset. I think we get up to no 12 or 11 and down to 23 at some point but pretty much stay in the teens leading to a 3 or 4 seed based on how we are in conference.

I'm fine where MU is ranked. I think if we can win early ie beat tOsu, win the wooden tourney, beat ASU, and UNM we will easily in the top ten. Obviously that's wishful thinking, but I think we'll be in the 10-15 range most of the year. I'm glad the BE is getting some love in the tourney, and I think the BE teams picked to be the tourney can move up a seed after all is said and done.

If I were to look at it as a poll, yeah its a fine ranking. I just think even if the big east champ has like a #18 poll ranking come tourney time they will still earn a top 3 seed.

The USA Today list is not a poll, which produces rankings based on votes. The USA Today rankings are al list resulting from analysis of all the teams done by their college basketball staff who actually cover the games and report the results. Big difference.

Gonzaga came in today at #8. Can you imagine the difference in perception if they were in the Big East?

I don't think there's a chance in heck that Gonzaga is the 8th best team this year. I think they are so overrated it's not funny.
