If we want this to be the official anything, the board name is an issue. We already have one secular institution, and will likely have more. Playing up the religious affiliation aspect is exclusive both of a current member school and potential causal fans who don't like the religious overtones. I think its short-sighted.

The Big East won't ever endorse a fan message board so don't let that concern you. Plus there is name recognition and Holy Land has become synonymous with the Big East. I love it.

can't agree more, thanks for posting this. There will always be people who try to paint us as a mid-major. The CYO nature of the name of this board, though clever, only goes to reinforce that sentiment.

The thought that the BE presidents and Ackerman (really, do we need to define her and others that no one will ever know about outside of a few hundred fanatics as v-ack and the like??) would ever consider branding the league in association with a site with this name is a joke.

I agree that it would be better to adjust the site name, for the general reasons you mentioned.

The "V-Ack" reference was meant to be a cool personalized nickname, for this site only. Not sure I understood your comment though? Having a contact in the Big East office would provide us with a place to contribute ideas. Maybe at some point an idea will gain some interest. It can't hurt, and maybe the league office will appreciate our enthusiasm.
