Well clearly the #1 selection criteria was having a football team. Expect this to become the norm rather than the exception. The power 5 has too much control over the NCAA.

There is no mathematical advantage in having double round-robin. It doesn't help, but I'm not sure if it hurt too much. It's just combination of bad luck, maybe poor job of committee repping by the Butler guy, and less than ideal scheduling philosophy by some of the teams in the conference.

Does this do anything to rethink the round robin and expansion? Or does this get labeled as a fluke year?

I'd hope not. Realistically, this is the first year I can recall us being possibly shortchanged. But even then, those bubble team spots are pretty overrated, they usually bounce after 1 game. We have 3 legitimate National Championship contenders this year, I will take that over the old days with Villanova being the only real threat.

Will be interesting to see if the Big East just schedule crappy non-con games next year as a result of this.

thing is with only 11 OOC games, and with MTE that all the teams do, tough to do that much making it easy. Especially those that have a tougher rival like Creighton or Marquette.

Neither CBS nor ESPN asked the committee chair: How the 2nd best conference only got 3 teams in? Was dying to hear the answer to that. The not asking says a lot.

Agreed. Shitty job. I also hoped that Hurley would address it when they had him on but he didn’t.

They led Hurley away from commenting about the snub to the BE.
